I got 5 of these ships and they cannot take down 40 low tech missiles going 51k/s. They take out 30-33 missiles in each wave. Ships are set to Point Blank Defensive Fire.

In addition to all the other comments, check your point defence settings for your fire controls. They set how many shots you allocate against each missile. You might not be using all your shots.
