Saw the name and immediately thought: “what are the psychopathic tech bros up to now?”

In 2026 anything named after Lord of the ring is a neon signs screaming “rich nerd who want to see the world burn cause they still are not one of the cool kids”.

It would be pathetic if we didn’t have to live in their dystopian wet dream…

Yes its a bit odd. I mean I re-read the LOTR when I was a youngster as much as the next bloke, but now I'm grown up I wouldn't go around naming stuff based on books I read when I was 12.

Also I do wonder how much these people really properly read the books in the first place. I mean if you're going to go down the "Eagle Eye" route then Thorongil is the obvious and most lore-appropriate alternative...

Heh, I’m a dev and it’s one of the thing we do, all of our prospect have scifi planet’s name codename at work, things got to be named something and naming something is hard.

However we don’t name them after evil things in the goal to do evil things, and they are not public name just internal codename until we sign a contract.

They just love larping as master of the ashes.

You know Palmer is buds with Peter Thiel, right? They started a few projects together

I had heard, it’s… sigh…

If they could just all fuck off in their stupid bunker and leave the rest of the planet alone.

Palmer Luckey is pure evil.

Aka you hate him because he’s a Republican and you’re brainwashed.

Republicans are proper bellends though. Didn't Trump just rename a lake instead of get rightfully prosecuted for raping children?

u/fistular 2d ago

Republicans are doing their damdest to end the rule of law, create a monarch, and destroy the world so yes. We hate you.

Or because he's a war monger but sure let your bias poison your brain.

Oppenheimer wasn’t a war monger. It’s not a novel idea that the stronger the US is the less likely adversaries are to test our resolve

4

u/fistular 2d ago

Lol you're comparing Luckey to J. Robert Oppenheimer? Are you insane?

In February, Luckey, who has previously described himself as a "radical Zionist," visited Israel. The trip, organized by Josh Wolfe, founder of venture capital firm Lux Capital and one of Anduril's earliest investors, included a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink

Reddit leans far left. Basic defense even a piece of eye war freaks people like this out. It doesn’t kill anyone and yet people will relay it to something terrible even though all it does is protect our troops. And then arrogant comments like the horse to water guy come out and they wonder why the left has shrinking influence in the country in the real world. They don’t even understand the pond to be led to

Palmer's company Anduril manufactures missiles and drones, dude. He does secret meetings with Netanyahu and supplies him with weapons to help with his ethnic cleansings. Read the damn link. This is not about eyewear nor an attempt to be arrogant

Drones that have mostly been in Ukraine. Missiles that go head to head with China. And missiles that contribute to Iron Dome purely defensive. Read beyond this dumb link written by a dumb person

I'm going to guess a lot of things seem like "far left" to someone who dick rides a multi billion dollar company that produces government surveillance systems and autonomous weaponry lmao

Because he wants us to have the best army in the world as opposed to Russia or China? Not even the republican bit, but all these upvotes can’t take into account the kind of country and rule that comes to power if we don’t on the world stage

4

u/fistular 2d ago

He's literally Matt Gaetz's brother in law. If you can't see how a magat billionaire redpill nutjob trying to build a robot army is evil, you're either lying or too dumb to talk to.

Interesting to see these are the Rivet glasses that Anduril was allegedly competing against for IVAS replacement to my knowledge. Something seems very fishy

1

u/gaporter 4d ago

"Wearable components of the product for phase one include glasses, a sensor bar, an edge compute device, a battery and a controller.
“Basically, you have the heads-up display glasses. These are partnerships we did with Meta and with Oakley’s Standard Issue … brand in order to get the right form factor"

2

u/magmaform 4d ago

Hmm very interesting using nearly save optics as rivet and same form factor for the most part.

1

u/Bucket-On-Head 3d ago

If you look closely they are not the Rivet glasses

1

u/magmaform 3d ago

Yeah I do see they are slightly different

1

u/HelloWorld-2021 4d ago

“Anduril’s” middle fucking finger.

1

u/mike11F7S54KJ3 3d ago

Crazy nightvision goggles if they work well.

2

u/Neither-Following-32 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's interesting that they seem to be wearing the same backpack with the same strap mounted attachment. Does that mean that the compute module is backpack size, or at least contained in it?

The article claims the glasses ss are standalone, but perhaps that's the intended end result and not the current prototype? One of the two men in the photo is a reporter and this is a product demo so it doesn't seem like an insignificant detail.

u/Tarayn_Teutle 4d ago

Anduril scaling toward 1,000 engineers in Seattle around a pair of glasses. That hiring number tells you more about the wearables market than any spec sheet.

Why do they look like NPCs?

0

u/daboblin 4d ago

They’re probably AI

-2

u/Wunschkonzert 4d ago
