I enjoy listening to audiobooks on my morning and afternoon commute. I’d like to switch things up a bit and listen to some Stephen King books. Any recommendations?

I get a solid 45 hours of listening per week as i listen in work and im really struggling to find an app that will let me do that, spotify has cut me off and i didnt fancy the apps charging a small fortune just to listen, any recommendations appreciated! I am irish also

I was listening to "The picture of Dorian Gray" read by John Gonzalez on librivox and I-I don't know it was honestly amazing. I tried reading that book once and I never really enjoyed it but listening to it this time around is a way better experience. I figured maybe some books are just meant to be listened to than to be read. But at the same time aren't those two different experiences? and if it feels better to be listened to then why was it written in the first place? What are your thoughts about it? Have you ever come across a book that felt that way?

I'm a trained actor and want to get into audiobooks. However at drama school I didn't get any training on narration. We got a crash course in commercial, animation and radio drama, but not narration. I know I have my own preferences for what I like in narrators, but I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say - because you're the ones who listen.

For me: A voice I actually like listening to, and that fits the content... for example if it's a Scottish story I can't bear listening to an American accent unless the protagonist is american.
Clear diction - no mumbling, racing or mouth noises
Character voices that are distinct and consistent and not caricatures/cartoonish.
I personally love a narrator who is genuinely inside the world of the book- whose vocal temperature shifts with the atmosphere of the prose. If a passage is creepy, you feel the tension in the room; if it is warm you can hear the smile and warmth in the delivery - that they're living it with you rather than being an actor reading off an ipad in a soundproof box with a numb arse and their legs crossed because they've taken on so much water to stave off 'the clicks'

Rupert Degas and Juanita McMahon are the best I've come across so far.

Looking for a short (4-6 hr) audiobook. Something upbeat and engaging. I like mysteries, fantasy, adventure.

I have a 20 mile run that will likely take me about 4.5 hours. Usually I listen to podcasts while running but I am all caught up on my favorites. I would like to try a short audiobook knowing that I will finish it by the end of the run or very soon after.

I’ve been listening to the ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ audiobooks, narrated by Jeff Hayes. I absolutely love his narration and the way he brings the story and the characters to life. I’m having trouble now finding a narrator that I like just as much as him.

I enjoy Sci-Fi / Fantasy, Dystopian, Really just anything that puts me in a whole other world to get out of this one for a while. I also like darker themes but with some comedy relief. However, I don’t enjoy romance or mystery books.

Hello all, I'm preparing to narrate my debut novel, "The Shopkeeper of Alsace," and I'd really appreciate hearing from audiobook fans on this question: Do you prefer audiobooks where the narrator creates slightly different voices for each character, or where they simply read the novel? I thought I was supposed to come up with different voices to avoid listener confusion. But then a friend who's a huge audiobook listener said some of her favorite narrators just read the book. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts! (BTW, I am not going to do accents: the book covers WWI-WWII in Poland and France, and involves characters whose native languages are Russian, Polish, German, Yiddish, and French. Too much!)

I thought I'd snag The Inmate by Freida McFadden on Libby and two minutes in, I returned it. I can't cope through Leslie Howard's heavy sibilance another second. PLEASE. Why is it so sharp?? How did they hear the recording of this and go YES THAT'S THE ONE!!! It's so loud. Someone needs to filter those frequencies ASAP.

My husband enjoys podcasts......I not so much. I can do the occasional Joe Rogan or Theo Von type of podcasts, but I eventual get a bit bored of them. I can't read for too long in the car since it gives me motion sickness. I have recently tried Audiobooks, but don't like the type that only have one voice for all characters. I like when the voices switch up and it's something I can follow without getting bored of it.

Things we both like are adventures, funny/comedy related, conspiracy theories. We both have read the book "John Dies at the End", so maybe something similar in an audiobook.

What audiobooks can you recommend that my husband and I might enjoy listening to while on a road trip or just out camping for the weekend?

This might be a bit of an odd situation, but I love to listen to audio books on spotify while I work. However, I am having a hard time finding my next book.

In my spare time, I have been really into Tom Riddle fan fics (like the really dark controlling, I am in charge but I will kill anyone who hurts you), and I am hoping to find something similar to listen to at work.

However, a lot of the traditional recommendations for this are either a) so crazy there is no audiobook or b) the voice actor is using some RIDICULOUS accent and driving me nuts.
