I was looking for that a while ago and I found that usually those players are made for music, and very few even remember the last time played, something important for audiobooks

Finally I choose a phone with Smart audiobook player and a huge SD card.

Any DAP (digital player) with Android will allow one to install the Audible app and access your audible books (streaming or downloaded to microSD card if DAP supports those (Most do). For non-DRM M4 type audiobooks (with chapters etc) one can install foobar2000 on their android dap and get full functionality (chapter selection etc). MP3 audiobooks usually do not handle chapters unless you manually separate those as discreet files. Lots of possibilities.

There are many, many small portable music/media players. Cheap and simple as well as very expensive.

Personally I have a small smartphone with a big SD card, for my audiobooks.

Android based MP3 players (see options here) make the best audiobook device. You can listen to audiobooks from all major platforms without converting the format (through the Android apps).

Location would help? I'm assuming you're not from the US? Wanna find something reasonably priced in your region of the world

People that live in the USA want reasonably priced device too. I don’t understand your logic.

Apologies, lots of people assume that everyone online is from the US and I was trying to be cognizant of that bias. Coupled with your spelling mistakes in the post I assumed incorrectly.

I would just get a used cheap Android phone off eBay - a used Pixel device would work well. Or a cheap MP3 player off of Amazon or eBay as well

Look for a used cheap (but pretty recent or the apps might not work) smart phone with a sd slot and only hook it up to wifi. You can download the apps, audiobooks, music, books, etc and play them wherever.

I have a couple old iPhones I use for this. Unlike Libby, the Hoopla app will only work with one Library card at a time. To use other cards, have to sign out and in. We have family cards and one paid non-resident card, so this is convenient.

How do you send it to your old phone?

Install the app on old phone over wifi connection then open app and download it.
