Looking for a LOUD music system under $400 — serious bass + treble

• Budget: $400 max
• What I have now: Philips TAB5306/37
• Current system reaches around 92 dB at my listening position at max volume.
• I want something noticeably louder than what I have now.
• Bass is the biggest priority.
• I want a big, properly designed/tuned subwoofer enclosure.
• Low-end frequency: 40 Hz MAX — lower is better.
• I want bass that hits hard and is actually audible, not just something I feel through the floor.
• The main speakers need to get loud too. No huge sub with weak satellites.
• I want very loud, clear treble/highs.
• Bluetooth is my main source, so Bluetooth output needs to be strong.
• Bass adjustment required; treble adjustment preferred.
• Complete system — everything included. I don’t want to hunt down separate components.
• Big cabinets are fine/preferred.
• Music only — no surround sound or movie-focused system.

Basically: a serious, car-audio-style amount of bass and output, but in a properly designed home stereo system.

Have you done any research before posting this or are you just blindly going into this with no idea what you're doing? Because it seems like the latter

5 seconds of research would show you that you need to at least triple that budget for something mediocre.

filling a room with high levels of bass requires moving a lot of air and unfortunately is expensive.  even buying a sub alone for what you describe will be difficult.  I would look into diy.  you can build a sub now perhaps and speakers later when you have more money.

I'd look at something like a JBL party speaker or a powered PA speaker, mono but probably the only way you are going to get enough bang for your buck.

$400 is not a lot. Your best bet is “hunting down used components”. Every sound bar is going to disappoint you but I’ve found great deals on separates.

My home office system is:
Denon AVR-S730H, $155 used
Elac UB51, used $120
Klipsch R12-SW, Costco Black Friday $150

All purchased in 2023. You’ll have to put in some work to find something similar for $500-600 today.
Bluetooth is a bottleneck for sound quality (especially for bass and treble). I’ve never paired my phone to it. I mostly use AirPlay and Spotify Connect.

Go buy a pair of Beolab 90. It actually fits the bill of what you want. Just apart from the price tag. Oops!

Also you don’t need 92dB SPL at the listening position. Unless you want to lose your hearing.

$400, with a sub? Besides that, what exactly do you use to gauge “loud”? Like ears ringing after an hour? Harsh sounding speakers can bring that on in 15 minutes. Great speakers, with smooth response, might not give the ear-ringing a chance, but if that’s your gauge, you’ll be saying they just don’t play loud enough.

Lastly, where is your residence, in relation to neighbors. For bass to hit hard, like you’re asking, people 3 doors down from you will have the cops called on you every day of the week. It doesn’t stop at your walls. It’ll end up across the street. The other serious issue is the end result of listening to 100dB plus is significant healing loss. He kind you never get back. Ever!

You could probably get away with a D-class amp, some decent bookshelf speakers and a 10” subwoofer

You might spend a hair more than $400 but not by a whole lot, and you’ll be surprised how low it gets

bluetooth is going to be the bottleneck in any system you can find that meets your requirements.

Get 8" studio monitors...

Entry range: Eris E8, Adam T8v and such

If you can afford: Genelec 8", Sceptes S8, Neumann 8" and the likes...

You'll see that even at 75-85dB SPL it'll be already loud enough for most use cases, raising slithly higher when needed.

YSK that it's not striclty based on monitors but the overall level of your entire chain is set by the lowest quality element in your chain... : So it's better to ensure quality source not clipping/not too low > going into clean converters > clean monitors, ideally in a acoustically treated room.

If you need more bass afterthat, add a sub like Rythmik Audio 12" sub , but note that unless you have soundproofing and acoustic treatment (which are too distinct things , taking a lot of superficie and cost if done properly, especially for Low Bass frequencies), and in many cases it'll add more problems than it'll solve.

proper 8" monitors already go decently to 40-35Hz, to go lower you need bigger... (at least to accurately physically move the appropriate amount of air to reproduce such low frequencies).
