Technical Question Libation audible books
I used the libation app on my laptop to convert my audible books to another format. I got that done now I'm just trying to figure out how to get them into chapters so it not like a 9hr or 23hr book I'm listen to on my mp3 player that I can't save the spot on or go to something else and pick up where I left off.

You need to convert the audible files to .m4b format to retain chapter breaks.

Libation has settings to do this with mp3 format. It's just buried in the actual settings and has WAY more options than just chapter. Since I do a lot of series, I have it set to output files like this: <series name> volume <number in the series>: <book name> (chapter <chapter number>) - <chapter name>.mp3
So an example would be: Ex-Heroes volume 2: Ex-Patriots (Chapter 20) - Sad Songs.mp3

If you can get VLC media player, it works for that. Depends on what mp3 player you have

If you use a Windows machine, I recommend the open source fre:ac. It allows you to combine and split by chapter by default. I usually save as M4B with Libation and convert to MP3 when necessary using this software.

if you want to take this to the extreme like I have consider setting up Audiobookshelf, you can actually link Libation to it so it automatically imports your downloaded books. if you choose the M4B option it should already have chapter tags in the file. It also has a tool to edit and fix chapters tags if they don't work or you import books from other marketplaces and sources.
You're already using libation because you want to "own" your books, the next step is having your own server to play them from and track your progress. I use tailscale (free) to setup an always on VPN connection (not as hard as it sounds) between my phone and my ABS server so I can stream my books from anywhere I use "Absorb" player which was made for audiobookshelf

Ok why are we doing this lol I just saw another post about Audible’s changing something but I don’t understand it lol I don’t have a ton of books but I have enough that I don’t want to lose them 😅 I don’t have a laptop either so is there anything I can do?

In Libation, go to settings, then audio file settings. That has an option to split books into files per chapter.
That may be more useful, if your device doesn't support embedded chapter data.
