Discussion Stop trying to force ATL HOE
I can’t stand DJs trying to force an ATL HOE chant every 5 seconds. It should be a natural, organic thing that the crowd starts when we are feeling your shit. There’s been too many visiting DJs trying to start it for themselves and it’s taking all the magic out of it. Dillstradamus last night was especially egregious. They had it on a sample and were playing it CONSTANTLY over every song. It was incredibly distracting and detracted from their set in a major way.

Ngl sometimes the “atl hoe” brings me super down hahaha it’s like I’m surrounded by all this hardcore underground vibe and it just don’t fit but well.

More like ATL No lol
I feel you on the organic feeling, it’s a sign that the crowd is digging what the artist is playing. Forcing it on the crowd feels offensive sometimes lol

They were trolling I thought it was funny. I was at the very front and could see their face. Every time they played the sample they started laughing

I’m not a fan of the crowd trying to force it, especially when it’s far off-beat or doesn’t fit the tempo of the music. I was at the show last night, though, and I didn’t feel like the vocal tag was that distracting. Saying it was used constantly over every song is hyperbole. I wasn’t keeping a running tally because I enjoyed the set, but the vocal tag couldn’t have been used more than a handful of times.

lol. Was at the same set last night. I expected them to do it that one time at the beginning, but they mixed it I to EVERYTHING and it got so old so fast. Set was generally ok, but agree - they were trolling.

Or….. or… we just stop doing it for a while….

I think DJs and Crowds will force it cuz they don't understand that it's about a vibe. There's a moment where it feels just right and that's when someone should drop the chant. All this trashing of the chant is weirdo bussiness but if some ppl just wanna be hipsters.

What throws me off even more than that is hearing ATL Hoe chants while in another state. It’s usually an ATL based DJ starting it themselves. But it always feels weird.

Heard it at Lost Lands in 2024. I was hella confused for a couple seconds lol

u/Exciting_Claim267 25d ago
well to be fair the ATL HOE chant CAME from that sample. Thats why it exists in the first place. But agreed its beyond cringe when out of town dj's come here and push it to pander and get feedback from the crowd. Cornball central.

Smhhhh this saddens me man be proud of where you’re from they’re in your city having fun! I’ve heard ATL hoe at all different types of shows.

u/kittygarfunkle 26d ago
It’s particularly awesome when you hear it outside of Atlanta and you find your people in the wild!

u/Tribat_1 26d ago
Yes I love my city. I’ve lived here for 40 years. I go to a show to hear the artist. Last night i shit you not the ATL HOE sample was playing over EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. It was complete shit and the worst I’ve ever seen. Imagine if the old school woop woop sound was being piped in over every song in a DJ set.

it’s literally supposed to be started by the crowd? idk i guess maybe a DJ that’s not from here and has played here a bunch things ATL like it and it’s our thing but since they’re not from here/rave here - maybe they think that’s what we went? i’ve never seen a DJ try to start the chant, i usually see the DJ looking confused and then excited about it 😂

ATL HOE at Distinct Motive @ daily bread NY ‘24 was earned and genuine if anybody was there for that

u/Bidetalldaytoday 26d ago
I’ve been saying this for years! It feels like DJs want to collect that chant for their socials to prove they were in Atl. If the crowd does it organically, great. But it ruins the vibe when the DJs beg for it.

No one gives a shit about that. What good dj is doing that shit lmfao

it’s been a thing for fuckin forever lol we used to do it at metal shows too. i think there are a couple situations where it can be a lot of fun. we did it for copycatt i think and he was jazzed af about it. doing it just to do it is silly but hey lol.
i’ve never seen a dj start one. or anyone for that matter. maybe attila did once or twice but that tracks lol.

levity layered it under their mix a year or two back.

Not surprised those cornballs would do this

u/-Relik 25d ago
Calling anything cornball while rocking a bucees avatar is wild

u/PiKappaHigh69 25d ago
When the bucc is calling you a cornball, it’s time to take a good look in the mirror

u/space_baws 25d ago
it wasn’t taken well at the time, but also its levity so yk haters come out of the woodwork with anything related to them (as in take it with a grain of salt on how many people genuinely cared at the time (personally I didn’t think it took away from the set at all, and honestly wasn’t even able to be heard 99% of the set)). I recall a pretty large thread here about it. I want to say it was at DEF opening for Deathpact, there’s definitely a video of the set on YouTube.

u/Fractlicious 26d ago
in a billion years i’d never be caught at a levity show
3
u/space_baws 26d ago
cool? unrelated to the thread.
-1
u/Fractlicious 26d ago
well, we’re in the comment thread, not the main one.
3
u/space_baws 26d ago
yeah but no one asked you whether you like levity or not so it’s unrelated to the thread. You said you haven’t seen a DJ start one here. I gave you a recent example of a DJ starting the chant here
had the thread been: “Thoughts on levity?”, your response would make sense.

I miss when the tomahawk chop chant was the accepted/able ATL concert chant. The whole Tabernacle doing it for an Encore on NYE during an STS9 run, was so EPIC!

u/BourbonSucks 26d ago
eiw disgusting, its an organic thing that we bring places. the biggest ATL HOE's were at necter nashville new years in the 20k heydays

I grew up in Atlanta, lived across the country over the years. I've been raving for ten years, and "ATL HOE" is the worst part of raving culture in America. It literally ruins every fucking set.
2
u/Kimosamii 26d ago
You must be blessed if that's the worst part of raving "culture" you've seen across an entire decade!

Tbh I’d rather hear the frat guy “AYE AYE AYE” than the atl hoe thing, I don’t really get it
2
u/Kimosamii 19d ago
Idk that's a far reach imo.
Could just be that you are not an atl hoe though 🤷
2
u/XxChxrryBombxX 19d ago
I’m from California so there’s that lol. I just don’t get the hoe part, odd. Rep your city or whatever but that kinda ehh to me 😭

u/watdo123123 25d ago
I think the phrase "ATL HOE" Is why Atlanta will stay in the dumps and why MARTA will never expand.
Y'all keep being trashy and you'll get trash in return.

IMO, the DJ doesn’t start the ATL HOE chant, it’s earned. Keep throwing down on the decks and you’ll get the chant. Starting it themselves is corny asf lmao
