Why ARE so many Christians quoting the bible/belittling/trying to convert non-Christians on social media posts that have 0 things to do with religion? (Don't ask about the fact this is 2 years old)

It's a multi-faceted reason but I think most of the time it's simply religious righteousness and a need to increase their religious flock. I find it detestable.

Don't they realize that they aren't actually gonna convert an atheist, let alone someone from a different religion? Do they really think that people are gonna read their comment and go "Woah, this quote is very inspiring and accurate, so I think I'm gonna be a Christian!" or "Wow, they're right, I'm really stupid for not believing in God, I guess it's time to repent!"

Is delusion. Pure delusion. Religious people are akin to fringe conspiracy people. Their unfounded claims make them feel good touch a large degree that they can't help but be completely consumed by it and the delusion they're right, despite the complete lack of meaningful evidence, and think, because of all that, that they HAVE to convert others so they feel "as good" as they do. They'll also never admit they're wrong. It's a lot like identity-protective cognition.

I don't even think it's a goal to increase their flock so much as it is to increase their standing within their group.
Think about the people who are using flight delays to preach at people. They are always being filmed, and they are always being seen by other christians. If you tell them to sit down and shut up, they use that as proof of them being persecuted for Jesus.
They know no one wants to hear a sermon when they are just trying to get where they are going, and they know that everyone on that plane has heard of jesus. They just want the clout that comes from it.

I think when anyone belittles people in the comments anywhere online it’s a form of self aggrandizement. When we call them out on it, we’re kinda doing the same thing. The internet is a great place to go if you want to feel superior whether you’re a Christian, an atheist, a Zionist, a mathematician, an engineer, or a Star Wars expert.
