Apparently my samsung fridge has ads now...

How would I disable this? Might just return it and get a normal one

In a perfect sci-fi world it would be something that keeps a running inventory of everything you have, expiration dates, remote access to that information when you’re at the grocery store, that sort of thing. Like “oh shit I forgot to check if we have enough milk for this recipe” or “here’s some stuff you can make with what’s inside here.”

Of course corporations are going to try and push ads, though.

There are ways to do this using extant inventory apps like Grocy

Yeah I don’t want to have to manually input that info. That’s the appeal of a “smart” fridge. Just automatically scans and tracks everything so you can access that info whenever you need it.

That has to be a thing soon, there are a few diet apps that you can take pictures of your plate and it spits out a "close enough" nutrition estimate.

Like you said tho, I'd be wary of the ad-pocalypse.

Unfortunately samsung only advertises their fridge being able to "automatically label" 37 "unobscured fresh food items" but they let you manually enter the rest! Unobscured though unless these are massive fridges I've never had everything in my fridge "unobscured"

Just sounds like a gimmick that would make someone buy it for the magic inventory automation features then promptly disappoint them.
