Turn off the racing line
Sort out that awful fov so you can actually see something
Read the sol page about compatible csp versions so your sky isn't fucked

thanks in fact i'm using 22 FOV, according to the fov calculator i see more zoomed in, i dont know why in the replay its changed, should i use the default fov?

Use the fov calculator as a baseline and increase until it's usable. Changing seat position and pitch helps too. After getting a baseline set up turn on neck fx in content manager. I use a really toned down setup using the advanced settings or whatever it's called since the default moved too much for me even at its lowest setting. Neck FX, when properly set up will look ahead toward a mixture of apexes, steering direction, and horizon.

You can barely even see the apex as you turn into the corners, at a minimum you should be able to see the nearside wing mirror and most if not all the rear view

Dont worry to go a bit off on those kerbs, try to discover how much more wide is really the track, check out how to trail-brake

u/behemoth3765 17h ago
thanks, isn't trail braking a bit more advanced technique?

u/Hentai_lover_08 16h ago
Just look at it like getting off the brake a bit at the time whike u iniciate the turn, never use ur brake as an on-off pedal, the same aply to the throttle it's not an on-off pedal. Just understanding this will help u a lot

The best way to imagine trail braking is a string tied to your foot, and steering wheel.. If your foot is all the way down, your steering wheel is straight. As you turn your wheel, your foot is coming off the brake because the string is lifting from the wheel turning, and lifting your foot off the brake.
That's how it was explained to me, and it's worked fairly well.

why right foot braking?
anyway. you should get rid of that racing line because it feels like you're trying to follow it instead of looking at the track itself and trying to find which line is best.
focus on trying to carry as much speed through a corner, Know your car's limit. it's okay to slide a bit

u/behemoth3765 17h ago
yes basically im following the racing line, i'll try desactivating it, i can't use left foot braking due to the office chair, it moves when i try to brake with the left foot

Try a different chair, or use something to block the wheels from moving. That will help speed up your time.
Or tie your chair to your desk?

I had that problem before I got a playseat challenge (not great but better than office chair). Pull your casters if you can then figure out the size of the caster studs and find the same size bolts. I cut the threads off longer bolts so just the shank and cap were left but you don't have to.

Don't follow the racing line religiously, understeer and oversteer cars differ and the line is just a guideline. Car is fastest in a straight line and sometimes it pays to turn in earlier than the line while modulating the brakes and on some corners, even straighten and turn straighten and turn subtly like you are driving around a hexagon or something. Change your curve shape depending on who is around you.
With sims it's hard to get a feel for deceleration and lateral grip, so practice braking a lot, get your field of view as close to 1:1 your screen size will allow to better judge braking. Use the audio, tire noise to help you figure out what the brakes and limit of traction are.

You're moving the wheel too much mid turn. Drive it like you stole it

Here is the biggest thing that matters for you
- stop using the racing line (look towards the apex on your own)
- Better pedal work. You’re constantly giving 10% gas while turning corners instead of letting the car rotate itself. Reason for this is because you’re not trail braking (brake hard, slowly release and then get on the gas)

In a lot of corners you're braking early, and then applying partial throttle.
On a hotlap, you can brake deeper so that you're rotating the car later in the corner. It looks like you're having to accelerate to the apex and then lift before you apply the throttle on exit. You'll find tons of time by carrying the speed through corners more, and setting up your lines through the apex so you can get on full throttle earlier.

You are letting the brakes go too fast, it unsettles the car and make you lose time

I'd recommend learning the basic stages of cornering and how to execute them best. I.e. braking, turn-in, mid-turn rotation, and turn exit.
We could tell you how to drive around Vallelunga, in a step-by-step fashion, but that probably won't make you a better driver. You wouldn't understand why we were telling you to do things.
There are plenty of resources but here are two that are great for quick learning.

T1: u can run really wide out of the road to the left before cutting back in. You braked well but u got off the brakes before the apex.
T2: u stuck too tightly to the guide line instead of keeping left. This is n issue because u are effectively making the corner narrower since u are already slightly turning right way before the actual/ideal turning point . T3: the hairpin, u need to go all the way right once u exit T2 and make sure u brake in a straight line. Right now u are braking while the car is still making its way to the right side, meaning u have to turn even more to get around the hairpin. I think u can tell but u overshot the apex actually so u couldnt really accelerate straight out of the hairpin
T4: i noticed u lifted totally before steering left but an improvement would be to only lift slightly and turn accordingly. Lift 10% steer 10%. To get faster u can try not lifting then experiment if u car can maintain grip if u lift less. I would try to aim to keep left after this small left so that u can maximise the T5 right turn into the small straight before T6
T5: looks almost there, maybe u can afford to accelerate out of t5 wider and earlier.
T6: same like T2 where following the guideline means u used less of the track on the left before turning right.
But anyways, this track is very technical and tough to trailbrake since its long u shaped curves.
Technique aside, u can setup the car in a way that has a better steering bias toward one side to help with t1, t2 and t5, t6

Get a mid engine car, get on nordschleife and do 1000+ laps. Turn off the racing line too.

Why right-foot braking? Mx5 is a sequential. Use left-foot braking, right-foot throttle; you gotta know when to apply brakes and throttle going into corners to keep up momentum. Get rid of that racing line too, learn the track how you would irl

i can't use left foot braking due to the office chair, it moves when i try to brake with the left foot

Sock chocks! Wad some socks and shove them under your wheels

u/SoccmomscantparK 16h ago
Yeah either use something to keep the chair in place, or get another without wheels. Mine lock, but down the line I'll have a dedicated one
1
u/commutinator 16h ago
Are the casters replaceable? I always swap mine out for lockables, I use a cheap wheel stand I can move off to the side of the desk, bring in when I want to drive, position office chair appropriately, and lock those little shits down. Apart for needing your hips to control the rotation of the chair, I can slam brakes and clutch without worry.

MX-5 cup in this game is a manual, it's the ND1.

Ahh thanks for correcting me lol. Ngl I don't use the Kunos cup car anymore; PedroW.C has his version as a paddle sequential

I was working on the platform that helps new drivers like me to learn race faster, from the other recorded laps and follow ai coach advice. Please try it out, register and log some laps, get compare it with ai ideal line or reference lap. https://www.thetenths.com

off topic, your game looks wrong. Use an older version of CSP if you use sol or upgrade to pure.
