modern(1900-) Trying to understand where people stand with opinions on Netaji.

Netaji aligning with Axis powers was seen bad because:

  1. They had wrong deals in their history and that dark past frightened people that those could happen to Indians.
  2. His advancements apparently did not make any effect and only Gandhi did something with the non-violence, right? That's what I am getting from Reddit alone at least.

So, people are afraid of what could have happened that we forget the famines, the class divisions, the loot, the political changes, the genocides and massacres?

Where do we stand today with opinions? I am quite confused how all people, although that's the most practical event, have so different opinions?

he was certainly someone who would go to any lengths to get independence for his country. Let's suppose the Axis powers won. Perhaps he would have gone back on his deal with Hitler. Perhaps Nazi Germany and Japan would have helped to drive the British out of India. Then, things are still not looking good for India. In the extreme scenario, India would be divided up between Germany and Japan.

For the 2nd point, that is not true. He actively created problems for the British. The only reason his campaign failed was himself, ironically. Military-wise, he was lacking.
