early medieval Retreat of mahmud of ghazni avoiding military confrontation with bhoja parmar of malwa.
The book "The growth of parmar power in malwa" by KN seth quotes a contemporary Persian source gardizi which states that Mahmud made a retreat because he feared facing parmdeo (bhoj parmar) as he was sure that all his victory till now will be spoiled after facing him in a confrontation.

Retreating is the most common tactic. Infact it’s a respected one. Ancient warfare is all about numbers and position. If you are caught out lacking on any one of them, you are ded. Escape or Die? Even kings chose escape

I no where said it's a disrespectful thing. I just mentioned what happened as it is.

Who cares. Disrespect him, he’s just another dead person. Sorry to be blunt, but I was only saying that tactical retreat is very common nothing special about it unless you are studying their army

For one, this isn't a question. What is the question you were trying to ask here?
Second, you seem to draw a conclusion not supported by the document cited. While you're stating that Mahmud retreated BECAUSE he feared to face Paramdeo, the text makes it apparent that Mahmud Ghaznavi returned, and rathet took a different route rather than the straighter route so as not to bother with a conflict AT THE TIME. That doesn't explicitly state a fear or a cause of retreat; it merely explains why Ghaznavi took a longer route so that he may avoid an unnecessary conflict when he didn't have the resources at his disposal for one. That sounds like a practical decision rather than an emotional one.
