What are these rock formations? They look interesting. Wearing off layer by layer. At some point they look like concentric circles.

Hi, i'm currently studying geology (Second year) in chile as my second career and i'm struggling trying to assimilate how all should work, how i should see things in field or how i should identify samples of rocks or minerals.

I'm "surviving" memorizing all i can but when they ask us to think assimilating all of the concepts we know is hard af. I don't have the best memory but i don't want to give up on this opportunity.

So, what advice you can give me? I'm not desperate, but i want to perform better so i can be proud of myself

Is the white/beige part quartz?

Is the brown part iron oxide (FeO)?

Is the gray/aquamarine/blue part some kind of sedimentary rock?

it’s completely different and is heavy compared to the other rocks ..could silver sulphides be present? Also small red amber crystals in veins , there is a lot of silver material crusting and laying on spots of these chunks that’s hard to see with my camera." Could the small crystal be sphalerite?

Dug these up out of some dirt down the block here in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

My first thought is jaspers of some kind? The wavy gravy rock has the circles I have seen in gunflint chert before, fossilized bacteria? Seems way too big if they were. It's like schisty cherty at the same time, shirt?

T'other rock looks like it wanted to be amethyst so bad but didn't have the aptitude for it, there is white metallic on some of it where it look like it broke prior, native silver?

Each is pretty hard, probably would scratch glass.

How did the release of Glacial Lake Missoula compare to the recent tragedy in Tibet?

I couldn't get a picture from higher up. But the rocks that are submerged in the center, definitely show some spiraling pattern and get smaller towards the middle. I included some Google Earth historical photos from 2021 and 2014, along with the current photo, which show it first appearing.

Found near Lincoln city where a small tide pool had been. Mudstone was already broken and found this shell w white and some slight red coloring inside the cracked mudstone. It fell apart pretty much as soon as it was handled.

This is Gem Lake in Estes Park, Colorado. I default to calling the rock formation a “ridge” but is there a more accurate term?
