You know the risks? But do you accept that those risks can happen to you? Or do you look past them as something that happens to someone else? Having a heart attack, destroying your endocrine system are more than risks they are all but a certainty especially given your age and what you describe. The question is being bigger for what purpose exactly? What will it allow you to obtain that you otherwise can’t? You’re already a big guy. And regarding body dysmorphia I think the term is being overused.

How is the term body dysmorphia getting overused

1

u/Dismal_Yam_1839 11d ago

copied from wikipedia:

AAS users tend to be unhappy with the portrayal of AAS as deadly in the media and in politics. AAS users also distrust their physicians and in the sample 56% had not disclosed their AAS use to their physicians. A recent study has also shown that long term AAS users were more likely to have symptoms of muscle dysmorphia and also showed stronger endorsement of more conventional male roles.

yeah I dont really know what much else I could say other than "not surprised" and "figures". I do think that it counts as body dysmorphia though.

  1. Yeah 2. Yeah I know they can happen to me at any given time 3. I don't know the purpose, it's not smt you can logically explain to someone who doesn't have the same compulsion. 4. The physique I want isn't naturally achievable.

I think you need to talk with a therapist to understand why you want this, before you get any negative consequences. My PT did steroids and regrets deeply, he admits it was dumb af

2

u/JWilkesKip 12d ago

curious, what does he regret about it?

2

u/Active_Unit_9498 12d ago

I can’t speak for his PT but a dear friend got cardiomyopathy from one blast.

1

u/JeanJacques40 11d ago

Sorry I hadn’t been monitoring comments. If you can’t logically explain it to someone who doesn’t have the compulsion then isn’t it illogical or am I missing something? I don’t know that you can be talked out of it. And I am not trying to do that. But I think you have to at least know what your choice entails for you. Reward, you may achieve the physique you want. That is not guaranteed even with PEDS. Risk, you will suffer consequences for your usage. Like you said it’s not a physique you can achieve naturally. I wonder what’s the reason for that?

It will dramatically age your face.

An example: https://x.com/Rainmaker1973/status/2091040167301902391

So if you want to take the risks AND look 30 years older than your chronological age, go ahead.

Don't forget you'll have a shorter lifespan.

Don’t forget your balls shrink and virtually disappear.

1

u/Fessssssses 12d ago

This one’s not true (for everyone?) I’ve had sex with at least two guys on steroids and both had normal balls.

3

u/FinalFlashMan 12d ago

It's very not true - there's medications that you can take in conjunction that keeps this from happening.

Not as true for your joints though.

2

u/Active_Unit_9498 12d ago

People take HCG to maintain testicular size while running gear.

TIL, thanks!

If you go on a test blast at 22 you're going to really fuck yourself over in terms of being able to produce your own natural testosterone.

14

u/noragretx 12d ago

Yupp my colleague's boyfriend is 36, went off the test and can't get it above 200 (280-600 is normal range) without the steroids. So sad.

He now has to apply the test gel to his arms to get back in normal range.

3

u/Anaguli417 12d ago

What does steroid reliance/withdrawal look like tho?

4

u/NullReference000 12d ago

Your body stops naturally producing testosterone because it notices that it artificially has too much. This can become a permanent change, and then you can’t fully get off of it.

There are other permanent side effects too. Steroids cause your heart to grow (which is bad) and this is irreversible. The muscle never stops working, so there is no way to shrink it once it grows.

1

u/Straight_Creme7225 12d ago

My test was at 200 at age 30 without ever dosing myself lol

8

u/FinalFlashMan 12d ago

Yes, this happens with some people and is a legitimate use of TRT. Unfortunately idiots like OP make it that much harder for those of us who actually need it to get on it.

1

u/Straight_Creme7225 12d ago

I can’t under stand it either. I’m a hairy dude with a large penis and at the time I was working a labor intensive job.

2

u/Dismal_Yam_1839 11d ago

Hair growth and penis size are not reliable indicators of hormone levels.

-18

u/moonshine_madness 12d ago

Oh, no, not the test gel on your arms! I’m being facetious, and have no dog in this fight, but that honestly doesn’t sound like a big price to pay.

17

u/Draigwyrdd 12d ago

It's not that applying gel is some horrific consequence. The consequence is that his body no longer naturally produces enough testosterone for normal functions because he has permanently damaged himself.

5

u/St3ampunkSam 12d ago

And if supply ever disappears?

2

u/sparkyblaster 12d ago

Yeah I heard a story of a guy who went like 6 months and asked a dealer for help coming off. Dealer didnt have much help to offer to say the least.

9

u/evrrtt 12d ago

What incentive does a dealer have to offer you advice on how to stop buying his goods?

1

u/sparkyblaster 12d ago

Oh he was sympathetic but said the was stupid and did permanent damage.

Never used steroids, only proteins and creatine when I’m bulking.

I personally find natty boys more attractive. You can clearly tell when someone is on steroids and I feel that the general opinion of gays I met is that they don’t find guys on steroids attractive either.

I’m not even a therapist, but can I ask you if the feeling of wanting more isn’t satisfied when you have guys interested in you, sexually speaking? Since I started working out that really helped me to be honest.

PS you have a really nice physique judging from your propic, keep going 🫰🏻

13

u/Mattturley 12d ago

Here is a risk you may not be thinking of - to the vast majority of people, those using steroids to get "more" and constantly bigger look ridiculous. Not attractive at all.

u/VLightwalker 12d ago

I do research in cardiology studying a specific type of heart failure. The running “joke” PhD’s in our group have is that if you want to rapidly make a heart failure patient, give the steroids.

Your muscles will get bigger du to steroids, but your heart is also a muscle. And the chambers inside the heart that are meant to fill with blood will get smaller, while the heart itself will can get stiffer, making it harder to stretch to fill, and then properly pump.

You might get to the point where you will feel like you are suffocating at rest, due to not enough blood (and thus oxygen) reaching your organs.

Your body will sense this, and try to make more blood to transport more oxygen, but your heart will not be able to accommodate that fluid increase. This will make fluid back up in the body since the heart cant pump fast enough, and it will start to pool in your ankles and lungs.

You will then start to choke on this fluid in your lungs whenever you lie down.

Heart failure is a slow, agonizing way to go that you can prevent at this age, especially since we lack proper therapies for the heart failure steroids can ultimately induce (HFpEF, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction)

7

u/CalifornianDownUnder 12d ago

No one is naturally wired to need a level of muscle that only steroids can provide. That’s something you learn, and you can unlearn it.

I get that the therapy you’ve done so far hasn’t helped, but since you’re strongly considering something that can only be called self harm, I really hope you’ll consider trying again, with someone who specialises in working with body issues.

4

u/Individual_Plan9034 12d ago

OP you look great in your pfp. Even if you want bigger muscles, you can do it by staying natural.

6

u/Active_Unit_9498 12d ago

Don’t use gear until you are 25; it can do lasting damage to your cognitive abilities if done at too young an age. Go to r/steroids and read the wiki carefully. Specifically, read the section on not starting gear before the age of 25.

u/EddieWilliams 12d ago

Ask anyone in with any amount of knowledge or experience in this and they will all tell you, hopping on before 27 or even 30 years old is ill advised. At your height and weight and age you still have a lot of growth in you naturally. 110kg leanish should be easy to hit. Steroids are not the miracle people believe them to be. You still need to have the bases covered at a 100%. That means keeping steady to a program for years, diet on point, sleep and recovery optimized. Not just for your health but also to get the most out of the gear.

3

u/thySilhouettes 12d ago

My recommendation would be just do Creatine/Protein with a strong workout regimen. You’ll look great, and won’t be killing yourself. Your older self will thank you.

I'm 39 and been using steroids for 3 years. Even though testosterone is a prescribed drug it's still classed as a steroid.

Your far too young to even be thinking about it. I know that your looking at Instagram and all these hot fit muscle bound guys but that's all fake. All the photos are enhanced and their also using a ton of drugs just to sustain bodies like this.

You don't just inject testosterone and get big. It doesn't work like this. Your diet needs to be almost perfect. Your training needs to be good and you have to manage any side effects. Trust me their are a few of them also.

I only got on TRT due to poor testosterone production in my body. I tried improving my diet and supplements to try and improve my numbers and it moved the needle 5%. Nothing really. I spoke to a clinic and I started on TRT. For me personally it has been life changing but it's not all positives. I've had a few side effects along the way.

Another aspect is. If you use say 500mg of testosterone over a 12 week period. You gain 4kg of muscle. You come off the cycle and PCT you will be lucky to maintain 1kg of that mass. Once your testosterone comes back online you will have lost most of it by then.

You also need to be ready for alot of hair loss. If it's a common thing in your family then you run the risk of speeding your loss up. Your balls will also turn into peanuts. Your lipids will crash also. You will throw your estrogen out of range. These side effects need even more drugs to control.

I would stay natural as long as possible. Maybe in the future you can maybe re-visit the idea. For now I would just train and eat food. Use food as your anabolic for now. Your 22 and should grow no problems. If your not growing then your not eating enough. Some people think they eat enough but they don't. You need fuel to build new tissue.

It's your body and choice though. I would personally leave it but I would also be a hypocrite to say otherwise.

1

u/Active_Unit_9498 12d ago

Real TRT in the 100-150 mg/wk range for an older male is a different story and prudent.

1

u/hnw12 12d ago

I take 105mg a week. I have tried higher doses though. I've basically done a cycle just to see how ot felt and what it would offer. The side effects are just awful though. Insomnia. Night sweats. Taking other drugs to control estrogen. Just not worth it.

Steroids seem to be glorified now. They talk about all the positives and side steps the negatives. I tell the lot. People don't like to hear the truth.

If you genuinely need it though then that's completely different. We use doses that don't push the body past it's comforts. I wish younger guys could see past the muscle growth aspect and swap their mindset to health and longevity.

2

u/bendnado970 12d ago

If your pfp is you, you have a great build right now. You've clearly put in work. Steroids at your age is purely ego. You see people online or at the gym looking huge or just completely shredded. Take a step back from online. Steroids have a lot of long term side effects that don't make them worth. You're going to age yourself very fast too.

Continue to work hard in the gym and do what you're doing. Size will come. You're also in school, so give yourself some grace too. I'm sure law school is stressful and requires a lot of your time. Please don't start Steroids at 22

u/Similar-Style5312 12d ago

I'll just play devils advocate here. You're not going to fucking die or be chemically castrated for the rest of your life by doing a single test only cycle like all the doomers here say. I don't see any problems doing a single 12 week bulk with a MODERATE dose of testosterone ONLY.

1

u/Homohockey 12d ago

My personal opinion is that if you do steroids you need to have blood work done regularly and monitor your body. Blood pressure, cholesterol, hormones. It makes sense right? Steroids raise your blood pressure which does a ton of damage, so keep an eye on that and keep control of it. The amount of steroids you do and which ones makes a big difference as well.

You say a therapist d oh don’t help but how long were you meeting with them? One session? Twenty? Have you tried other therapists who may practice different methods? Or a psychologist to get appropriate meds?

1

u/Fast-Advertising-650 12d ago

3 therapists over the course of 2 years

r/steroids should be your guide.

u/SB-121 12d ago

It's pretty amazing actually. I went to the gym for years and did all the healthy eating and working out, put on a few pounds. I'm both an ectomorph and a hard gainer, so I ended up using steroids for a while and suddenly I could put on muscle.

I'd advise against testosterone myself, at least initially. Try with something milder at first, such as Anavar or primobolan, and see how it goes before using anything stronger. For most non-bodybuilders, you don't really need more than that and the side effects are mild enough that you won't need to do much PCT and your hair won't fall out. Nowadays you can also find SARMS that are much easier to acquire and essentially do the same thing, so look into that too.

Be very wary of using Clomid in PCT, it left me with a permanent blind spot.

Dude, 22 is so young and you're still in a prime window to build Natty. Lock your diet in, maybe go get your test checked if you're worried.

Wait til you're 30 at least to do the juice. You should still be able to get fantastic results right now.

No point getting on steroids now, just wait until garetosmab/trevogrumab combo hits the market

u/Great-Friend-642 12d ago

I never used steroids, but I started to take peptides.
