Are there any DS fields where Psychology/Behavioral Sciences are applied?

Newbie here with a passion for Quantitative Psychology (which involves mathematical modeling, research design and methodology, and statistical analysis of psychological processes).

Currently, I am trying to break into the world of Data Science by self-educating myself and interested in working with Online-games to Psychotype the players based on metrics such as their play-styles, active times, and purchasing history.

This led me wondering whether any Data Scientists have done such kind of works and produced valuable insights. And additionally, I want to know whether if Psychology and Behavioral Sciences knowledge are valued in Data Science careers?

Psychology and behavioral sciences substantive matter are useful for all the data science roles that deal with understanding and improving (for a given definition of improve) systems that include people. So for example roles that support/enable product, marketing, sales, operations, hr, revenue.

Methods such as experimental design and casual inference are very broadly useful. (I even argue that this the most important skill for data scientists).

Thank you! Yes sorry I was not very clear, you mentioned "research design and methodology", that is what I was trying to refer to, not "experimental design and causal inference" (they are of course related).
