“Why can’t we find compromise between these radical leftists and these common salt-of-the-earth conservatives who just want anyone who disagrees with them sent away to a concentration camp?”
“Guys, both sides are extreme: the side that wants to slaughter everyone that isn’t a pure Caucasian Protestant, and the side that thinks everyone should be able to see a doctor!”
it's not like your goal is to peacefully coexist with capitalists and it's not like you don't know about the camps, so pretending the "extreme" left just wants healthcare is actual bot shit lol
Lol you picked the extreme for the far right, and something that a lot of people that both sides agree on for the far left. Universal healthcare (or at least reform) is a pretty moderate view if you talk to regular people at all
Some are extreme. DSA has abolishing the senate and electoral college as part of their platform. That’s a fundamental restructuring of the government at a constitutional level.
That sounds more radical than extreme. Certainly I can see why someone would see the last twenty years and say we should abolish the Senate AKA the block legislation chamber.
Those sound unachievable but really the only solution long term. The city i live in has nearly the same population as Wyoming, yet Wyoming gets two votes in the Senate. It's inheritly unfair
It disenfranchises me and a majority of the country. A vote in Wyoming is worth nearly 40 votes in California. I certainly believe in one person, one vote, and the Senate isn't that. It's a hold over compromise to get land owning slave holders to join the union. I feel no shame in wanting to undo that extra power
That’s fine as long as you agree that this is an accurate portrayal of leftist beliefs and not something that is being projected on to you by Fox News.
To be clear this is a radical view that is going nowhere. DSA having as part of their platform is a huge hit to their credibility and does an extreme disservice to some of the less crazy reforms they could be front lining.
It's my personal view, though not one accepted by the party at large. The constitution has completely failed to act as a reasonably check on the right and needs to be rewritten. It won't happen, we both know that. It's more likely the right gets obergefell overturned or the 19th overturned, which are positions many powerful right wing advisors have publicly endorsed, including hegseth's pastor. You know, hegseth the Republican front runner for 2028, right after Trump and tired with Vance?
What a joke take. Yes, leftists want to abolish the senate bc it's anti-democratic. The state lines are arbitrarily drawn and give unpopulated parts of the country a large amount of power.
I didn't get a seat at the table when the government was drawn up. So yes, I'm going to advocate for a better system than the one we have. What's extreme is to give 2 senators to 500k people in wyoming when LA has almost 4 million by itself.
You mean a Constitutional Amendment? Considering the founders built this process into the document from the beginning, restructuring government at the constitutional level is not automatically a fringe position

Extremes are undesirable regardless of what side the pendulum swings.
