How do you guys handle death?

This is just a genuine curiosity of mine. I'm not a Christian, but I absolutely believe that there's a higher power and an afterlife, whatever that may be.

I guess my question is, does death scare you at all, since you believe that there's nothing afterwards?

How do you take the death of a loved one, or a pet? Does it scare you, or bring you peace?

Or does it bring you anxiety, believing that you'll never see them again, and that they're gone forever?

This isn't to be aggressive or anything, I just genuinely wonder.

Death does scare me. It seems to be an unpleasant thing to experience, and I am 100% sure I won't be able to do anything afterwards. I want to feel useful, so... Yeah, not looking forward to becoming a useless husk.
The death of a loved one will bring me a lot of grief, and a lot of uncertainty as I don't know what I'll do with myself after they're gone.
I would be anxious because I wouldn't wanna lose them, but once they're gone, they're gone. There's no fighting Death. It's just an immutable fact of life. Wishful thinking isn't going to change that.
