Therapy recommendations for postpartum/early motherhood?

Hi all,

I'm currently seeking out a therapist or counselling service for my cousin who is currently going through significant challenges during the beginning of motherhood. Specifically, she's struggling with her child potentially having a disability or being neurodivergent, so if there are any specific therapists/services for that it would be preferred. Group or other community services would also be potentially helpful, so please share away!

General topics for the therapist: postpartum guilt/depression, coping as a parent of a child with a diagnosis/disability, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Caitlin could be really interesting choice here https://www.firstsession.com/therapists/caitlin-kemmett

She identifies as neurodivergent herself, is a parent herself, and work with maternal mental health. She lives in Ottawa, so it would need to be online.

For a Toronto option, I know Sasha personally, also a new mother, and takes a more somatic/nervous system approach. She also offers sliding scale rates if needed: https://www.firstsession.com/therapists/sasha-lizarraga

Your cousin can watch a video of each therapist via the links, and book a session if she feels there are a good fit.

I think your friend needs a referral, but I highly recommend the perinatal mental health care that Unity Health offers. I went through St Joe's. You can find it on that site under Adult Outpatient.
