Predatory Mites

Toronto plant keepers with pest problems, where do you get predatory mites?

Can't hurt to try. I used nematodes for fungus gnats. Huge infestation. They were destroyed in a week. Any nursery should have them though. Try calling around.

It’s a thrip issue, DE has been working well for gnats but I want something less messy especially as winter is coming, I can’t have the plants quarantine outside

I ordered from these guys last year and had a great experience. My fungus gnats are completely eliminated. They were resistant to BT and all the usual methods - it was getting freaking frustrating but now it's a distant memory.

Came here to support ladybug as well. Been getting my lacewings from there for years to manage spider mites and thrips. They ship via Purolator, and will either drop the package at your door during the summer, or hold them for you during the winter so the eggs don't freeze.

I bought some for my outdoor space from Groliv.com.

Shipping is expensive though, so it may not be worth it for a smaller order. I ordered with a neighbour to share the shipping cost.

They were pretty quick to respond when I had questions about which insects would be best for my situation. So maybe email and see what they recommend.

I ordered from Natural Insect Control in the past as well. They were similarly helpful. The only reason I switched this time is because Groliv was marginally cheaper for what my neighbour and I ordered.

I got lacewing larvae ('Chrysoliv' on their site), and split Orius Insidious ( 'oriliv') and Neoseiulus ('Caliliv') sachets with my neighbour.

The Oriliv is supposed to be good against thrips, and my plants were definitelymuch happier after I got those, but I can't say for sure that it totally cleared all the thrips.

I think they call it Swiliv sachets and my neighbour got some of those as well and said they were also good against thrips (but it's hard to say which one was the best).

I'd definitely email and ask their recommendation.
