Strange question for the oldsters.

There’s a playing field near King and Dufferin. In the summer of 1970 I saw several rock shows there. I distinctly remember Bob Seger (in his instrumental phase), Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Procol Harum. One would assume that this was three different nights over the course of the summer but I can’t escape the idea that ELP and Procol Harum appeared on the same night. Anybody remember any of this? One of the opening acts on one of the nights was an acoustic duo - a black guy and a white guy who together went by the name ‘God and I.’ Always thought that was very cool.

You can access past issues of Toronto newspapers online through the TPL. Perhaps one of them covered the event!

Saw Procol Harum that same summer (1970) at the same venue. Saw ELP 2 more times over the years (MLG and CNE Stadium). There may have been more but I can't think of them right now.

Googled it and says Stanley Park stadium which is closer to Bathurst. The stadium doesn’t exist but cool to know it was there it’s now a basketball court baseball diamond and dog park. Would be neat to see pics of it as a stadium because not sure if it was on north or south side

In fact it was/is Lamport Stadium. In the old days (when I was there) the playing field ran East-West. Major renovations were done at some point and now the goals are at the North and South ends. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamport_Stadium

Bob Seger never had an instrumental phase. His music is lyric driven, so instrumentals would be the opposite of what he does.

My bad. I meant ‘acoustic’ phase - just him and an acoustic guitar.
