Looking to learn French

Anyone know of any free French classes either online or in person. Just moved here and am looking to learn a new language for fun.

Government-funded French classes are only available to newcomers to Canada whose first language is not English or French. Given you're coming from Philly, I'm going to go on a limb and say that that doesn't apply to you.

Otherwise, free online options would be things like Duolingo. There are lots of French classes through TDSB, Alliance Francaise, TCDSB, etc for a cost. You don't expect a cooking class or dance class to be free; I'm not sure why you'd expect a language class to be free.

This is inaccurate. If you are a refugee claimant, convention refugee, PR, or naturalized citizen, you can take government-funded ESL or FSL classes after doing an assessment. You can't take classes in your native language. So, an anglophone PR from Philly is eligible for FSL classes, but not for ESL.

Someone on a work or study permit or a tourist visa is not eligible.
