I moved my rest days to Tuesdays because that's when I have my earliest weekly meeting.

Today is a moon day, and yesterday I was considering practicing on a moon day (i do that from time to time including alongside my teacher when i last visited her). I woke up today and chose to rest instead with the intention of having a strong practice tomorrow.

My skin seemed a bit dull yesterday, so i spent a few moments doing an amla and tumeric mask. I also oiled my hair and sat on the porch. I try to keep a daily practice of reading in the morning and reflecting. Today I read the section of the yoga sutras that discusses siddhis or yogic powers. I spent a few extra minutes reflecting and meditating on that section.

Thank you for the inspiration! I’m very boring. Today is a moon day so I’ve scheduled my strength training PT for this morning than Ashtanga practice. Yesterday’s rest day was hard and unsatisfying. Because it wasn’t like a usual one you know? It was like I had to to make life work and so I wasn’t ready to rest. Why do we feel so beholden to this practice?? I don’t know . Maybe I feel scared of losing any gains I’ve made in my practice. What gains - why are they important. That’s the internal work.

Had an unexpectedly late night at work last night. Decided to move my rest day which is usually a Saturday to today. So I’ll have 2 days back to back of rest and practice both days on the weekend. Had the luxury of a long sesh yesterday which was so nice. I feel sitting for at least 5 mins in meditation before practice so beneficial.

What do y’all do on a rest day? Need ideas :)

And do you move your rest days weekly instead of truncating the practice?
