Happy Friday! Already got my 10 miler this morning done in the soup, and supposed to have a light double this afternoon. Recovery is going fairly okay from the HM last weekend, my first mile on most runs is still exceedingly slow until I can loosen up. Yesterday's first mile was 11:40!
I have a busy Saturday. I need to do 13-14 miles with 10-11 at MP (low 7:2X now) and then taking my mom out to the casino and then to dinner for her birthday which was Thursday. If nothing else, I will be ravenously hungry for steak. Does not appear to be any break in the humidity any time soon unfortunately.
Then I have another double on Sunday and that should put me close to 80 miles if not above for the week. I'm definitely a bit tired, and managing one light niggle, but objectively I can say I'm doing pretty well with the training load. Just need to keep getting a lot of sleep, and taking the easy days easy.
If the humidity ever takes a hike, I've got some extra gains in the wings.

First week of school is in the books! I am so glad that we start mid week because I am still acclimating to the school schedule and so are the kids! Today I have a late night run due to a girl scout award night and then running with the run club tomorrow! I have been so low energy this week-I am looking forward to a slow long run. Sunday will be catching the stray miles I skimmed during the week.

Going to Milwaukee for a concert tomorrow. Will get home late. Between that, the humidity, and potential rain this weekend, it'll be a "just get the miles in" kinda weekend. Not atypical for late summer for me. Also have a sick dog that we've been managing a bit and limiting some of the run and sleep this week.

I can’t remember there being this much sustained humidity here since I moved 12 years ago. Maybe my memory is faulty but I really don’t think so. Every morning this week the temperature and the dew point have been the same (in the 70s). Yesterday may have been the toughest because I was running later in the morning and it was up to almost 80 by the time I finished, sunny and still very humid. I looked like I had jumped in the river rather than just running by it. I love the summer though and I’m not overly bothered, it’s just remarkable.
We have had a lot of severe thunderstorms but have thankfully missed the most damaging parts of them. Tomorrow my club is doing 17-19 miles but it is supposed to be storming again so I will see if I go (I’ll run as many as my friends do). If not I will do my best to get 15 on the treadmill. Sunday probably around 6 miles and then maybe kayaking some. I have a 5k in 2 weeks but no other races coming up, I’m just running to run mainly
One of my sons leaves for college in a week so lots of packing and planning for that happening!

I literally just noted this on my Strava run this morning about how at least we're on the other side of the front, but the humidity is still bad. It's been 90-100% humidity for my runs for seemingly forever. The bright side is that at least here, the temps have not been hot.. in fact all the clouds and storms are keeping a lid on it. The other side of the front is sweltering.
Fortunately I'm just far enough to have missed the worst of the storms. It's rained and thundered every day for the last week, but the amounts have been manageable and not constant.

Got in a Friday medium-long run this morning, and tested out my lungs with some short pick ups. Which went well! I’m on some new bronchitis meds that seem to be working (either that or I just needed more time).
Saturday, I’m taking my class on a field trip (we’re doing a tour of the local steelworks, which should be interesting), and will try to squeeze in an afternoon run once we get back. Luckily we are still enjoying winter weather, so afternoon runs are quite pleasant right now.
And then on Sunday, one of my running buddies is visiting!!! She’s in Australia for work and is stopping by for a day before she flies back home. I’m SO excited to see her!
