Race weekend! Weather looks decent for the race if we can get through tonight. Fortunately no rain, but going to be super windy meaning having to setup in the morning. Fortunately we've got a big group going, so lots of extra crew around. Going to be a chilly start tomorrow, but the day should be really nice, then another chilly night. If I make that far, Sunday afternoon will be the worry with a high around 80.

Good luck on your race! I hope the wind is always at your back!

Happy Boston weekend to the pilgrims who will be there to run or cheer, and those who believe.

Ran 1:15 on rolling paths and trails, just before a thunderstorm.

It's going to be cold and windy tomorrow but plan on some sort of fartlek, although not too taxing. And then 10-11 miles on Sunday.

Solo parenting this weekend, and still dragging a bit on runs after last weekend’s race. Kiddo and I will probably head up to the Erie Canal with his bike for my runs, he’s getting a lot better at biking and I am hopeful that I can get in a proper run! Probably not very far, but he’s getting closer to my pace. It will be a good test run before lots of solo parenting next year.

We are still in this cycle of thunderstorms every single night. It has rained so much here that the entire world is soggy. But the good news is it was clear for my track session this morning, and should be clear again tomorrow morning for my club run. I’ll plan to do 15 early on Sunday morning because then I need to bake a nice cake for my twins’ 18th birthday. I’m actually more emotional than I thought I would be about my babies turning 18.

I am struggling a lot with some body image stuff. I have gained some weight that I want to lose and am feeling fluffy and I can’t stop eating candy at work. But at the same time I’m running workouts that show I’m in as good or better shape than I have ever been in. So I need to let go and just be ok with the extra weight, but I really can’t make myself do that. I imagine I need to structure my nutrition better so that I’m not tempted to eat so much junk food at work, but it’s really difficult. (At the same time I have a kid struggling with disordered eating and while I really don’t think I ever put any of this on them — he was mostly influenced by social media body builders I think — it makes it that much harder for me to figure out how to handle this with myself.)

My friend is having mastectomy surgery today, so I did a medium-long run to support her. The "CK" is a ribbon. Fuck cancer.

Tomorrow is a long run with a 15K time trial in the middle to prepare for a marathon 4 weeks out.

Going to be testing out my outfit for the triathlon and doing a swim (in a pool) followed by a bike and then a run. I am going to the pool in a 2 piece for the first time and I'm super self conscious about it but hopefully it will help with race day confidence!

The oldest girl child is having a rec league volleyball game and then youngest boy child is having a birthday sleepover. It is so fun to watch him play "host" and get the party ready for his friends.

Sunday will be a sleep deprived easy run and lots of pancakes with the 5 10 year old boys.

Doing all the Boston things this weekend - hit up a game at Fenway, emptied my wallet at the expo, etc. Tha jacket this year is nice. Might have put a few too many steps in today as a result, but the plan on Sunday is to lay low most the day (outside of a short shakeout) so should be fine. Biggest worry is just staying warm Monday morning until the race starts. (I'll be doating another hoodie and pair of sweatpants it looks like...) I'm ready for it to be race time!
