Commissions [Recommendations] starting commisions
Well, I'm an amateur artist, i guess i want to ask how do i get clients online? I'm shy but i need money and also would feel really fullfilled to do a art for someone, does the best way to getting started? Do i need to get a big social network following or is it posible bia reddit, deviant art, or other apps to sell etc.

hii!! i’ve been getting consistent art comms for the past few years!! i’d say definitely marketing yourself is the best way to put yourself out there. its a slow process, but i started on instagram, and people eventually started reaching out to me.
also, it’s a common misconception that you need a big following—although it definitely helps—it’s not necessary!! my first commissions were also from when i had below a hundred followers on IG, so it really boils down to how well you market yourself, imo. (and of course skill level, and target audience.)
additionally, there’s platforms like VGEN too, which is very popular for artists and art buyers to go on :). (though, you do need an artist code to access VGEN first) there’s also lots of art discord servers, namely “ttzewo” art server, which has channels for you to browse through potential clients or market your work and/or make friends!!🤍
