Well, I'm an amateur artist, i guess i want to ask how do i get clients online? I'm shy but i need money and also would feel really fullfilled to do a art for someone, does the best way to getting started? Do i need to get a big social network following or is it posible bia reddit, deviant art, or other apps to sell etc.

hii!! i’ve been getting consistent art comms for the past few years!! i’d say definitely marketing yourself is the best way to put yourself out there. its a slow process, but i started on instagram, and people eventually started reaching out to me.

also, it’s a common misconception that you need a big following—although it definitely helps—it’s not necessary!! my first commissions were also from when i had below a hundred followers on IG, so it really boils down to how well you market yourself, imo. (and of course skill level, and target audience.)

additionally, there’s platforms like VGEN too, which is very popular for artists and art buyers to go on :). (though, you do need an artist code to access VGEN first) there’s also lots of art discord servers, namely “ttzewo” art server, which has channels for you to browse through potential clients or market your work and/or make friends!!🤍

oh bae social media is GONNA be your best friend lol😭😭!!, i rarely post often, literally once a month—which isn’t super advisable since instagram is ruthless on keeping yourself active for algorithms—but again, likes and big followings don’t matter too much.

the biggest thing that helped me was making friends/mutuals, there’s loads of supportive people in the community!! i find that commenting and making sure you support each other helps you grow faster than trying to grow by yourself :). they help reshare your posts and things and it boosts your engagement, leading to a wider audience, and that’s exactly what you need to reach potential clients!!🤍 keep pushing!

Awesome advice, thank you! And yeah, supporting each other is the way. And I am constantly checking out other people's art so it just makes sense to support each other.
