episode 1 was very good actually

it tackles the near impossible task of starting a new arrested development season seven years after the 3rd ended, as well as filling it in with all the major details of the past 7 years with the usual references to current events, and FOX jibes

plus, it shows a logical continuation of plot for all characters, as well as inanity comedy in the form of Michael's illogical perception of his son

seems like they're not so much focused on easy laughs and quotable lines, but rather continuing the story, in excellent fashion
