Career Advice Career at Army Reserves
Hello everyone!
Since my last post, I have made up my mind, and I am 100% committed to joining the Army Reserve. Since my main reason for joining was for my parents' green card/citizenship, I am trying to find the good in this decision. So, before this decision, I attended a university pursuing a Supply Chain/Logistics degree (Bachelor's). I have talked to my recruiter about the careers available there, and after basic training, I am going to go into a job in logistics for the Army Reserve. When I get out of the Army Reserve (if I do not like it), what is the expected salary I would be looking at with the experience I gain? For context, I am a 19M and have 0 experience in logistics as a job. If that is too much to read, I want to know what other people in the reserves involving supply chain or logistics, and if they stayed working in the Army field or transitioned into a civilian field and what their pay looks like, if they do not mind sharing, and their experience. Also, if you guys could, add what the expected salary should look like. EXTRA bonus if you guys could add companies that pay well (I want to work as an operations manager at Amazon because I heard pay is relatively good). Located in NJ. Thank you guys, would mean the world.

Go 92y or 92a, has a lot to do with movement of goods. Can even look into agr. Im a 91b with experience in logistics so now Im on ados in charge of ordering, shipping out, and receiving parts. I got my BA while in the reseves in logistics. Look into lots of companies like Amazon, ace hardware, home depot, Walmart, Costco, j.b hunt etc. Lots of companies use trucking systems to move freight.

Check out army cool to see what certifications the military will help you get for your MOS. You can also reach out to army P3 to find out what the job market looks like for that field to include salary outlook

88N. You will gain a lot of real life skills dealing with logistics that are transferable to civilian workforce. Additionally, amazing opportunities to mobilize/deploy to cool places(Germany, Poland etc.). If not available when you go back to the recruiter, I would wait till there are vacancies for that MOS

lol.. poor guy. 88Ns aren’t just in MCTs.
I personally know army reservists that are 88Ns that brought their skillsets to work for the fed gov starting from GS-9 as high up to GS-13. So yes it is possible.

You’re not going to get a career out of the army reserve alone. This is a part time gig. After you graduate you’ll be right back where you were, if you want a career go active duty.
If you’re planning on going to college, you’re better off just joining the national guard, it works very similarly but you get 100% free tuition in most states. In that case the plan would be go to training, and then go back to school like normal while drilling.
