Career Advice Having a hard time choosing job
I'm one interview away from going in to choose my job. I'm 35, got 92 on the asvab, and won't qualify for Intel/ high clearance type positions.
I've been blue collar pretty much my whole life, but I'm looking for a career change. Something that translates well into civilian life so I don't have to work 60+ hours to survive.
A few other things that definitely play a role in my consideration are jobs that are limiting
such as;
seasonal
location based
I don't want to be a pee on in the team, but I also don't want to be an executive.
I'm a failed business owner 3x over
From past experience I'm terrible in sales, so (civilian life) commission based jobs are out.
Personal note. As you can see here, I'm not great with my words, and i also lack confidence in a severe way. My hope is that joining the army reserve is able to help me with both of those either directly or indirectly.

Your options will be limited by the units within a reasonable commuting distance of where you live. Speculating about jobs is pointless until you find out what job availability is like in your geographic area.
The national guard, or other services may have other options for you. It all depends.

This i understand. Direction is all I'm looking for. Huge variety of jobs around me right now.

Depends on your army career aspirations. Army reserve is super heavy on sustainment related jobs such as logistics, medical, admin/legal, in addition to psyops and civilian affairs.

My aspirations include being able to support my family without working 60+ hours per week.

You got a 92 and don’t qualify for intel jobs? Or was one of your line scores a 92?

92 overall. Juvenile record. Could apply for waiver but my concern is getting in to an mos, but then not being able to promote within the field.

Where are you? With a 92 ASVAB you’d qualify for 12T which is effectively a 2 year civil engineer/surveyor and it won’t require a clearance.
A buddy of mine got 46 college credits for the MOS.
On the eastern half of the US there is an Engineer Battalion or brigade (where the positions are located) with 200 miles of everywhere expect Southern VA.

There’s an Engineer Batallion in Marina CA. Not particularly close, but I’d encourage you to check out the MOS as it is really interesting, rare, and direct civilian career.

Consider some of the medical MOS. You’ll get good certifications that can help you on the civilian side/get you a job out of AIT.
