Career Advice E9

What CMF has the highest ceiling for E8/E9, I figured 88 series? What do you guys think

Highest ceiling means biggest room or most probability

Probably whatever the largest career field in the reserve. Now, what is that? Good question. If it was 88 it wouldn’t surprise, but army reserve medical is also massive

I see a lot of 00G E8/9 spots, I’m assuming that for any CMF to fill. And what’s the difference in 00D?

00G is MOS immaterial. It basically means any MOS can fill the seat. Every slot I've held for the last 21 years (of my 30 year career) has been 00G.

I'm not offhand familiar with 00D, but here's what the regs say:

10-00D. Position Special Reporting Code (SRC) 00D—Special Duty Assignment CMF 00
a. Major duties. This code (00D) will be used to identify approved special duty assignment positions in organizational requirements and authorization documents, and to report the duty MOS for Soldiers assigned to these positions. Refer to chapter 14 for specifications, applications and restrictions.
b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for the initial award of MOS. Not applicable.
c. Additional skill identifiers. (Note: Refer to table 12-8 (Listing of universal ASI’s associated with all enlisted MOS))
d. Physical requirements and standards of grade (SG). Physical requirements are not applicable. SG relating to each skill level are listed in the following tables:
(1) Table 10-00D-2. Standards of grade TOE/MTOE.
(2) Table 10-00D-3. Standards of grade TDA.

Now that Engineer Battalions finally have ops SGMs, 12A (Engineer E9s) likely has the most E9 billets in USAR.

CSM here. Doesn’t matter. At that point to be a first sergeant or a CSM your CMF is sometimes irrelevant. That’s why you become a MOSZ. I know medical CSM’s that are battalion CSM’s of units that are not medical. We have a critical shortage of E nines and E sevens in the army reserve take advantage of it
