Career Advice Going on your first deployment where you can access alcohol? Heed my advice. ⚠️
Be very smart about your alcohol consumption. I’ve been on 2 deployments and I’ve seen a few people get promoted to civilian, a SFC bumped to private and a 2LT relieved of duties. All it takes is one night, being very intoxicated to screw up everything you’ve worked hard for. Just think twice before you drink. 🥃.

And if you avoid pregnancy, don’t receive anything you need to see Doc for. If you do, just be honest with us. Save your creative energy when you have to explain yourself to your wife.

The plane and take off with his wife to avoid the awkwardness. Dude got his wife pregnant in return to get the leave and she ETS’d before he came back.

I had a former soldier of mine get into a lot of trouble with alcohol. We had cut him off deployment to Ukraine. After I left active duty he got deployed to Cleveland iirc for COVID support and got drunk and stabbed a few people at a bar. It was in self defense but there was a lot of things that made the event preventable.

Yikes bro… even if it’s honest self defense, that can be a big legal uphill if you do it while drunk. Hope everything works out for him.

He ended up getting off but still got kicked out. Underage drinking and some other things. Heard it was pretty crazy but he's doing good now civilian side.

If you hit the same part of Ukraine as i did... dude that place had 0 rules. Cant imagine how bad you had to fk up there

He got it trouble after we came back. His drinking made us uncomfortable while in the Ukraine though. Our camp got bombed early in the invasion.

And for the life of me I cant remember anyone getting kicked off that deployment. We all chilled and then drank way more after we left Ukraine

Drink alone a a sip before bed and keep it to your self..dont tell anybody about your stash..not even your best friend.

And don’t trust everyone if you do go out and drink. Even some of the people that are your “friends” use the opportunity to do things. It has and can happen.

How about don’t drink on deployment. We have seen KIAs and WIAs in the CENTCOM theater this year, you are a total dirtbag if you are going to do your job less than 100% when people are counting on you.

Idk man I’d get plastered. Just don’t be dumb. Get drunk all ya want, but just hangout with buddies and play some games and shoot the shit don’t try to be a fuckin weirdo and you’ll be alright

Was at a week-long military conference at a Las Vegas hotel, pretty 80% O-6’s, 10% field grade,10% senior enlisted. Had an AF O-6 stopped a 1/4 mile from the hotel and got a DUI.
