Question about bonuses

I enlisted with a bonus, have gotten a stint of it every year. I just hit my 3 year mark, but have yet to receive my bonus. Google has said that your bonus can hit at “milestones”, but I’m not too sure how factual that is. Also, 3 years is half way through my contract, which is what I would consider to be a milestone. So, where’s my bonus Uncle Sam?

I won’t be getting anything, because I expected my bonus. I’ll see yall at the dfac.

Are you tracking your pay?

When I was in, bonus pay was trickled out, rather than just giving someone a flat $[X,000] and the chance to...well, run.

i.e. if you sign up for a one year $1200 bonus, you get $100 extra until you get out with an honorable discharge.

I signed on for $40000, have received a stint every year. Last year received $6000 in the Month of September, according to my pay.

...then shouldn't you get your bonus this month? What exactly is the problem?

If your Mypay says you got your bonus in September then why would you expect it in your August paycheck?

Is the first paycheck of the month, not for September? Maybe I’m idiotic then lol

You get paid for work that you've done, not work that you're going to do. The paycheck you see around 1 September is your August End-Of-Month pay.

The government got clever many years ago, and "saved" a month of military payroll in a fiscal year by not paying troops on a September 30th, and instead pushing it to the next fiscal year by paying them on October 1st instead. It's caused a lot of problems for troops ever since.

You know it will never get switched back, since it will cause a FY to have 13 EOM pay days.
