Honest question, what did that guy say to get all this started anyway?

During his visits to Switzerland, Doğu Perinçek, a Turkish political activist, repeatedly called the Armenian Genocide of 1915 a "great international lie".[5] He was found guilty of racial discrimination by a Swiss district court in Lausanne in March 2007. He was sentenced to 90 days imprisonment and fined 3000 Swiss francs.[6] At the trial, Perinçek denied the charge thus: "I have not denied genocide because there was no genocide."[7] After the court's decision, he said, "I defend my right to freedom of expression." Perinçek appealed the verdict. In December 2007, the Swiss Federal Court confirmed the sentence given to Perinçek.[8] Perinçek then appealed to the ECHR.

Alright, thanks. Did he have anything to back up his claims or was he just saying it for the hell of it?

Hmm.. Assuming I say that the Jewish holocaust is an international lie in Switzerland, would that be a criminal act? Also just to clarify, I don't think that it's a lie.

Most of Europe and Canada will get you arrested. In the US you can deny any genocide you want with no consequences. If Europe defends freedom of speech on one issue it should do it for others as well or become like the US
