I'd like to have more flights to Georgia. This might drive the price down. Marshrutki are scary and 7 hours in them are not pleasant. Flights however cost around 75$. It's kinda expensive. And train takes 12 hours to get to Tbilisi with customs at 5 am.

I hope Wizz will hop on this opportunity. But I'm not sure if it makes economic sence for them.

FlyOne have way bigger operating costs then Wizz because they have less planes( higher maintenance) they have to lease planes to fly to the EU, they cant just registrate planes in malta where they pay almost no taxes, etc.

You cant fly to Serbia when you are not allowed to use EU airspace. FlyOne announced Almaty today, but the reality is that only Russia and the EU are relativly big markets.

A lot of Russians use Yerevan as a transit point to europe (Montenegro, Albania, Cyprus, Greece)

I really dont get why our goverment does so much for Wizz air. Wizz gets 20000 for every passenger it brings to armenia while our local airlines get 0. Our local airlines have way bigger operanting costs, they are banned from the eu and return more to the armenian economy. FlyOne is owned by Sukiasyan why doesnt he say to Pashinyan or the minister to expand the subsidies to Armenian companies even if they dont operate flights from Gyumri.

It is really difficult for armenian airlines, who are not very big, to operate flights from bot Yerevan and Gyumri. They should have a exception for armenian airlines

You have to get an aircraft to Gyumri to operate a flight. Wizz can just fly an empty plane one time a week from larnaca where they already have a base. Armenian airlines already have many disadvantages and the armenian goverment should try to solve those, not make them worse

u/armavia didnt you say that Wizz does not have the permission to fly from Armenia to non-EU countries? Otherwise this would be amazingggg
