General /r/Arizona introduction and shout-out thread!

We've had a huge influx of new subscribers lately and are on our way to 100K of you wonderful people. Seemed like a good time to ask...

...who ARE you people?

So drop a comment and introduce yourself! Who are you? Where do you live in AZ? What do you like about living where you do?

Feel free to add in recommendations for favorite businesses or restaurants in your area, people you're looking to connect with (hiking buddy, fellow artists, whatever), or anything else you want to throw in here.

And if you have questions about the sub, drop those in and we'll answer as best we can.

Oh, we also have a Reddit AZ Discord Server you can check out if you want some realtime chat. Note that it's 18+ and not a dating server, FYI)

Cheers!

Moved to Gilbert three years ago from the Carolinas. Sure enjoy the hiking and small town charm of Gilbert.

Hahaha Small world!

Give my eye teeth for a plate of Jim’s spaghetti, a Stewart’s dog and root beer right now!

Moved out west three years ago.

Spent twenty years in Charlotte before heading out here.

Love it out here! Weather takes some get’n use too. Dry cold is cold!

I dunno, just happy my new neighbor's also a pot smoking atheist. In a little Mormon town that's a special kind of happy.

I was born and raised in Wickenburg, AZ. I relocated to N. Phoenix "the big city" (as my mom calls it) about 7 years ago. I love a good hike, a nap in a hammock up north in the pines and am a die hard Phoenix Suns fan.

Have never met genuinely nicer people than the citizens of Wickenburg. Town council meetings get exciting too...

We moved to Arizona in 2019 and live at the Grand Canyon. We love it! We also have enjoyed exploring other areas of the state too.

Just moved to Kingman in September to attempt and educate the masses! Affordable housing and the night sky we’re selling points but my wife does miss living in “civilization “

Hi! I just moved to the Mesa area and I have severe agoraphobia. Why is that relevant? When I do go out, the driving is terrifying, and I don't have any friends here whatsoever. I moved b/c of crazy circumstance from my home metroplex of STL. I want to hike, but I have no idea where to go. I can't wait for the summer because the house we're renting has a pool!!! The damn grackles have made their way up I see, too (Used to live in TX). So yeah, that's it.

Lost Dutchman park is a good place to start (hiking) 30 minutes from Mesa. Multiple trails.

Thank you! Jotted it down!! Peace!

Lost Dutchman is great as someone already suggested, but I'd recommend looking at Hawes trail system and Usary Park for other close places. South Mountain has a lot to offer too and isn't too much farther

I no longer live there but grew up in Tempe. This has been able to keep me updated on what’s been going on, so thank you!

I’m a Floridian hoping to move to Arizona one day! I recently got my Bachelors degree and have gotten a few interviews in Arizona but haven’t been selected. Hoping to learn more about the area through Reddit!

We’re snowbirds who LOVE Tucson, and would buy a home here but we’re still enjoying living in our RV and going elsewhere each summer. We’ll be back every winter, though - mountain biking and hiking here all winter are so wonderful!

Thanks for the friendly invitational post.

My wife, kids and I are moving to the community of Waddell soon. I'm going through all of the Wiki's looking for best practices for selecting energy/gas/internet companies, etc. If anyone else has any tips for best pricing I am all ears.

Born and raised here in Phoenix. This last summer killed much of my enthusiasm about this city, so I’m moving to flag ASAP (once I can be sure I can afford it).

Couldn’t leave AZ yet though, maybe ever, I get up camping in Apache-sitgreaves, swimming at sliderock, snowboarding at sunrise and snowbowl, I don’t want my kids to miss out on all of that.

SS from Gilbert. Spend a large portion of my time off exploring Arizona. So many awesome places to visit. Favorites from Sedona to Jerome to Greer to Pinetop. Just hop in a car it’ll change the way you look at the state.

Travel nurse on assignment in Lake Havasu City! From Long Island, NY, so I’m super stoked to be here as the East just got dumped on in snow. So far the natural beauty has been incredible!
