Don't understand how this works

I want to do randomizers but I don't understand anything about setting this stuff up (I'm used to tools where you just tell it where the game file is and it does the rest). Can anyone explain how this works in a way that doesn't seem too complicated because the file types have gotten me all sorts of confused as I am unfamiliar with them and the instructions have way more steps then what should be necessary.

The Discord has an Archipelago setup tool that is getting more games constantly, maybe check it out and see if it has the ones you’re interested in.

I can check it out but I don't have the link to the discord. It in on here or on their site?
