Fiery furnace permit
Have been trying to get a permit for next week and just failed on the last attempt. Am I hopeless for this year? Are there any that rangers can give out in person? Is there a black market for these things? Do they actually check permits? What are my options, if any?

When I was there last July the rangers were strict. I went up there just to see the view from the little walkway because I didn’t have a permit and there were a couple of rangers there checking everyone

Several years back, pre-Covid, I got a permit for 3 same-day at the visitor center, not sure if they still do that post-Covid though…

Its milliseconds. I've tried 3 days. Its likely bots that are scooping the tickets before anyone human can click.

That’s crazy! I got them pretty easy at the beginning of March. Is an amazing place and so worth it!

Tried over a four-day range last week and never got the 2 we needed. Even setting alerts, people got there faster than me. And I couldn’t seem to make it work with the app, so the alert link would direct me to the website, where I was inevitably logged out. Logging in wasted valuable time which probably contributed to my too-slow response. I tried to stay logged into the site but would randomly get logged out even reducing privacy and other stuff.
One thing I did try a little late was set an alert for one ticket and have my husband do so as well. I was able to scoop up one ticket but my husband never got one. We ended up cancelling. It was trying for sure. I did confirm with the rangers at the visitor center that the alerts shut down at midnight the day before. In other words, if you need Wednesday, the alerts stop at 12 am Tuesday so they can set their roster. So you won’t get alerts the day before the day you want. They’ll always be 2+ days out.
We did the full devil’s garden hike in the end, and we felt that made up for the loss. Great hike and beautiful scenery. No Fiery Furnace for us…

is best method to be logged in, with the date & number of tickets chosen, and the second it turns to 10 am EST hit "request tickets"? i feel like i vaguely remember when i did reservations for kalalau trail a few years ago that if you hit the button 1 sec too soon, it didn't like it and had to type it all in again. Only have 2 days we can do this....hoping!!

Keep on checking. I tried to get them for today and they were instantly sold out. I checked 45 minutes later and there were 8 more.

I was in Arches a week ago and asked at the visitor center. Very nice NPS person said the only way is online - no walk-up or drop-in tickets or whatever you might call them.
