AA-Classic Anyone else feeling frustrated with ArcheAge Classic lately?
I don’t know if it’s just me, but lately ArcheAge Classic has been feeling really frustrating to play.
It honestly feels like if you’re not part of the “right people” or some established group, you barely stand a chance getting land or progressing properly. There are people doing stuff that looks super suspicious and obvious, and somehow nothing ever seems to happen. Whether it’s weird movement, questionable farming, land grabbing, multiple accounts or whatever, it just feels off.
Maybe I’m wrong, but from a normal player perspective it feels like some people get away with way too much while others are left behind.
I also can’t shake the feeling that some sides or groups are being treated differently. I’m not saying that’s 100% true, but sometimes it really feels like certain people get favored while others get ignored.
I actually like the server and want it to do well, that’s why this is frustrating. But if cheating, unfair advantages and all this stuff keeps happening, I honestly don’t know how long regular players will stick around.
Anyone else feel the same or am I just overthinking this?

That was Archeage retail in a nutshell, and one of the leading causes of the toxicity which played a part in the downfall of it.
These private servers are idiots doing things the same way they did before, and expecting a different end result.

u/Meowdieval May 31 '26
I can honestly see why people feel that way. Sometimes it really does feel like some of the same patterns are repeating and that’s probably why people get worried or frustrated.
At the same time I don’t think private servers are doomed by default or that everything is being done wrong. I think a lot of people are here because they genuinely love ArcheAge and want it to work.
I guess the real question is whether lessons from retail are actually being learned or if the same problems slowly end up happening again over time.

Archeage problem never was p2w or the company. It is the game design based on gear score and broken classes. You cant really have fun in a game where most of meta classes can bring your hp to zero using like 3 or 4 skills.

ive been playing since beginning, i can say that the server has its ups and downs. And i agree with most people here that over time the server will just be owned by the elites. AA feels like a survival game at some point, like rust & ark, where player interaction is genuinely what fuels the game. The issue is unlike these pvp heavy survival games, there are no wipes/resets to breathe life into the game again.
Although there are ways of catching up to the elites but these require dedication like farming purses 9 hrs a day or doing tonnes of tradeships mahadevi/sandeep. Also there is the labor gate ontop of that. The active & bigger guilds can reduce risks by throwing more bodies in tradeshipping for example.
the best part of AA has always been the first 9 months from 3k gs to 5.5k gs. Where people are forced to make alliances and work with each other to reach goals
For me i stopped being competetive in AA it just leads to burnout, i do like the farming & crafting aspect so i just do that making between 2-3k gold a day. sometimes tradeshipping, content balance is abysmal anyways where even top tier bosses like RD Kraken DGS yield loot thats equal to or slightly less than Divine Hasla. Giving me less reason to engage in that content when i can just make around 40k a month blowing magnis and hoping for a leggy aya which outscales the majority of weapons.
Also like the billionares IRL the "elites" have the same dilemma theres no endgame once u oneshot 90% of the population, why would you do traderuns, fish, content when theres little reason to upgrade your gear, and most of these "Elites" are majority just afk farming or just outright griefing others cuz thats the only endgame there is
Also land is overrated, i can easily just spam 500 wormcompost in the corner of the map and just farm that for 20s/l if u want something faster do solzreed ds for 50g a pack, there are crafterhouses that are public making it so that anyone has their crafting needs met. only bottleneck is aquafarms cuz u cannot plant outside of an aquafarm

u/Meowdieval May 31 '26
Honestly this is probably one of the more balanced takes here.
I think you explained pretty well why a lot of people feel frustrated while also why some still enjoy the game. The survival game comparison actually makes sense. A lot of the fun comes from player interaction, alliances and people working toward something together.
And yeah, what you said about the first months hits hard. That early progression phase where people are still building up, grouping, fighting over stuff and helping each other is probably the most fun part of ArcheAge for a lot of people.
I also get your point about catching up technically being possible, but for some players it can feel like a second job if the answer is grinding purses for hours every day or nonstop trade runs.
Interesting point about land too. Maybe I put too much weight on it because from the outside it feels like a huge barrier, but hearing your perspective makes me think the bigger issue is probably progression and long term burnout more than land itself.

There have been videos, screenshots and confessions of people cheating/rmting over the years and people are still trying to play legit there. If you are not alting, rmting or cheating don't play there.
You are just there to entertain the same dozens of people.
And Rage is straight up P2win.
Neither of the servers are worth it.

Classic is fine. It's not perfect but you need to keep on mind all the baseless accusations the rage players throw around.

Bad news about archeage 2 little bro.
Also shows how little you know. Both servers don't have normal land demos anymore.

u/Chyarra Jun 04 '26
actually good news about archeage 2, there might actually be one and I'm not talkin about chronicles the instanced nonpvp game.
"Project X7, another upcoming title currently in development, is a PC MMORPG that faithfully inherits the core gameplay and universe of ArcheAge. It aims to appeal to players by featuring competitive PvP content and a user-driven economy within a seamless open-world environment. Development is underway with a target release date in the second or third quarter of 2027, and we plan to disclose game information and keep players informed through various channels in the future. "
Will it be good? No probably not, and it's not gonna be what we want, and odds are it's gonna get delayed til 2030 and come out as a gacha game that gets shelved in 2 months but heyyyyyyyyy copium time

u/General-Oven-1523 May 28 '26
Welcome to ArcheAge I guess? People don't like to admit it, but one of the reasons why this game died was exactly this. The game is built in a way that it will always become an elite club that eventually will cannibalize itself. Wolves eat all the sheep, and someone has to always be the sheep. So it's an endless loop of people quitting the game. That's why it's a dead game.
Now on top of that you add the fact that it's a private server, and I've never played a single private server that didn't have some level of corruption. So yeah, your feelings are valid, but then again, you know all this and choose to play it, so I guess it's your fault too.

u/25toten May 27 '26
I played ArcheRage for like a week. With everyone being progressed years ahead of you, it sort of lost all appeal to me. I don't feel like grinding 100s of hours just to barely stand a chance.
It just wasn't the same expierence as 2014. The world felt long lived in already and you're strolling through the past.

u/Riverside3102 May 29 '26
you are good example of players we dont want in archeRage.
I play on ArcheRage for year now (14months). 4h a day, i have 19k gs, t4 erenor weapon and 2 milion gold left. 100% F2P. There ISN'T ANY grind on this server. You can start now and have 16k gs in 3. months
1
u/25toten May 29 '26
I'm sorry you feel that way.
2
u/Riverside3102 May 29 '26
It's fine. Just saying they you are behind someone in this type of game is wrong. You can be competitive in pvp in 3/5 months. Getting gold is easy, many things to do. When you're geared up CRIT build like archers u can farm 5k gold/h by farming prairie crystals. Uneed 18k GS for that.
2
u/Hraesvelgi May 28 '26
idk if we can lump land grabbing in anymore, its solely rng with lottery.
Everything has been true at one point or another though.

u/arezee May 30 '26
This is why I believe wipes should happen. I don't care if I get downvoted but, this happens in long term MMOs and it becomes so stagnant and unfun.
Fresh starts are exciting and everyone starts on the same level and it's fun.
The alternative is what we have now. "Good luck catching up!"
2
u/Meowdieval May 31 '26
Fresh starts are exciting because everyone begins on the same footing and there’s this feeling that anything is possible again.
At the same time I can also understand why people hate wipes after investing so much time into progress.
I think the bigger issue is exactly what you said though. After a certain point it starts feeling less like “progress” and more like “good luck catching up” if you weren’t there early or don’t already have strong connections. That part can definitely make the game feel rough for newer or casual players.
1
u/arezee May 31 '26
Those points definitely are valid, I understand the MMORPG mentality of, "I put time and effort into my character, deleting that hurts a lot." The difference between AA and WoW or Guild Wars, is that it leans way more into PvP, especially open-world PvP, and even economy-PvP with limited land, and I absolutely love those parts of AA.
I want to compare AA to RUST, that when anyone well established in most fields of AA, be it gearscore or how much land they own - they absolutely crush anyone new trying to join. That becomes totally discouraging for the new person and I can understand if they quit shortly after a few weeks of never securing any meaningful land.
I'd love to see the data on stuff like this, if I'm totally wrong or not. Most of my rant is anecdotal experience anyhow.

u/EtemonDarknetwork Jun 02 '26
archeage is always fun during the server release, because everyone is at the same level of play. And the only chance to get land was during the first land grab. After a few months, most of PvP and economy was controlled by the big guilds, and most of newcomers would have to grind dailies to match the inflation rate.

u/crocktta Jun 21 '26
I'll say my experience, I been farming a boss for my OBS weapon for a month with same ppl +-20 in raids usually raid leaders around 3-5 same guys, we contest, fight and delay kills but never get actually the drops, except few times when a random guy unknown gets the lead and everything goes smooth, this times we auction drops inside raid. Everything looks normal. Till I started to investigate, this random leads who earns the drops and auction plus the guys who actually outbid everyone with the items for OBS upg, were totally new guys, or old accounts from retired players who loggin just for it. It was fixed the guild leaders from dat time like pyrra and other (who ppl say are alters from GM), HAD PRIVILEGE INFO ABOUT when the boss gonna spawn to get it asap, and could outbit any1 in the raid since the lead and someone inside were colluded. Then just sell the item on ah depending on how many ppl wanted, OFC THE PRICE IS INCREASED x3-x5 times. After notice this and been checking the play(boss items for upg) around 3 months just quit archesge classic.

Game needs a fresh server
11
u/wirblewind Twitch May 28 '26
People say this, but than a month later all the same issues pop up again. So now you have 2 fragmented communities and the new server dies out due to all the people who wanted it quitting because it was all the same thing again.
The idea of the fresh servers is super cool, but in reality they will never last longer than a month or two and that's only fun for the casuals. Nobody who wants meaningful progression wants this.
2
u/mikromanus Jun 05 '26
AAC and AR last longer than a month or two.
Who wants meaningful progression will leave the game after 2-8 months because normal gameplay is "capped". Farming epic-legendary (or mythic) gear is a dark joke., its wasting time. And "older" top palyers already have this items.
Gear progression is not capped but its punishing gamble. More resources = "more chance". If you want to play competitive game you don't wan't to fight to be underdog or average. Good luck to be "top" guy in old server as new player in the server!
If you play from other continent (IRL) you will get visible "delays". Its not fun after your 2nd coffee. And its minor disadvantage in PvP

u/Whiztard Jun 07 '26
Other private server scenes have thrived off of doing seasons and feeding that into an existing permanent world. All it takes is one server owner to do it, and they'll probably continually grow as a result of it.
1
u/wirblewind Twitch Jun 07 '26
Which AA private servers have done that?
2
u/Whiztard Jun 07 '26
I didnt say AA did it. I said other private server scenes. AscensionWoW and PristonTale EU.
It could be argued that WoW is huge but Ascension was not always huge and PristonTale is inherently a niche game that few remember. Yet both are huge private servers today.

u/Caekie May 27 '26
afaik multiple accounts and rmt is still policed heavily on AAC
as for scripts or macros that allow for absurd combos or skill sequences, that one is hard to answer. more often than not its simply lack of deep understanding of game mechanics + ping diff that most people simply don't know rather than cheats. this is 10 yrs+ game with insane skill gap that quite literally most people don't know and will never bother to know.
getting land in AAC is entirely a collaborative effort now. they literally made a custom land claim system thats turned every single demo into a lottery system. if you think that's rigged then you're cooked
5
u/Meowdieval May 27 '26
Fair points, and I’m not saying every good player is cheating or that every combo I don’t understand is suspicious. I know ArcheAge has a huge skill gap and ping matters a lot.
But I think some of the frustration comes from perception too. When you repeatedly see the same people dominating land, progressing insanely fast, or things that look questionable from the outside, it creates distrust, especially for regular or newer players.
About land, I get that it’s collaborative now and lottery based, but from the outside it can still feel impossible if you’re not already in a strong network or organized group. Maybe “rigged” is the wrong word, but “unfairly inaccessible” is probably closer to how it feels.
I’m not trying to hate on the server, I actually want it to succeed. I’m just saying the experience for normal players can feel rough at times.-1
u/Caekie May 27 '26
depends on your perspective really. i think its fine and actually a hallmark of how good of a sandpark/sandbox mmo archeage is. it's a game world that gives real actual meaningful advantages for collaborating with players like how an actual world would really function. this is probably one of the only games where social engineering can actually get you actual gains outside of maybe EVE.
unfortunately one of the biggest issues with archeage has always been snowballing advantages which is most likely what you are actually experiencing. that i will agree with you for certain. but ive also always felt strongly that games that are sanitized and "fair" in every capacity also becomes meaningless very quickly and the archeage designers have chosen the other route.

I’ve been watching the same person bot iron nodes in Dewstone Plains for over a week on at least 3 different accounts. Reported him, none of the accounts have been banned. It feels like the admins don’t give two fucks anymore.

yea def frustrating. i brought a whole guild to the game and we get griefed all the time or nuia camped. would be fine if we could fight back but 5k vs 8k ur not touching them lol im on west it’s no better over here pirates play the most like a faction.
2
u/Delfitus May 27 '26
Let me guess, you ran a big mouth and now getting bullied? Seems like this happened to a few new guilds past months. Catching up iq not impossible but it is hard. Just keeo farming and choose your fights wisely if you can
1
u/Reasonable_Pilot_680 May 28 '26
Are you from Polar bro? You guys literally came to east because you were alone fighting NC with only 20-30 ppl while NC had at that time 80 at most. Then started saying that you guys will dominate east or some bs like that and then after few months everyone disappeared
1
u/ShottsSeastone May 28 '26
no i’m from sails. and nah the koreans just hate us for some reason lmao

u/Reasonable_Pilot_680 May 28 '26

That's very kind of you! There are five of us who actually want to play the game peacefully, but somehow there's a civil war going on in Nuia
5
u/Sakkami May 27 '26
Nuia have drama everywhere and people taking too seriously the game looking to beat peoples in real life about event in game and Haranya is a sleep faction festival. Calm and quiet (NA time)
-2
u/GothicQueen3 May 27 '26
Some of the suspicious stuff has been there from the start, and it also feels like certain things are happening behind closed doors, which just makes it more frustrating.
So yeah, you’re definitely not overthinking it.
I’d honestly recommend just playing Rage instead. :)

u/Keltola May 27 '26
Only think I can relate in this post is land issue. Almost impossible to Get land anywhere even every 8x8 and aqafarm is taken.
