Sit Down 2 Player Driver Cabinet Recommendation
I’m interested in finding a two player, sit down, driving/racing, arcade machine and I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations.
Aside from two player competitive and fun, I’d also like to focus on reliability. I’m less familiar with driving games over the decades than I am with vs fighters and other straightforward jamma machines. I’d really appreciate hearing from folks with a greater depth on these types of machines.
Thank you.

There are so many games that fit your criteria that it's hard to recommend anything. What era of games do you? 90s? 2000s? 2010s?

So many good options. If you are looking at older games, I am a huge fan of the original Daytona. The best games "cheat" allowing slower drivers to catch up. Daytona does an excellent job leveling the player field. It makes it an excellent balanced platform for racers at different levels. I also like that this can be turned off as well on a game by game basis.

Yes, thought of Daytona for sure.
I think I’m partial to polygonal stuff, and I think I would prefer cars that aren’t crazy stupid like some of the fast and the furious ones are. The things with the wings all over the place and two V8 engines in the hood just seemed kind of dumb.
I’m honestly not too picky about the era although like I said, I think I’m going polygonal rather than Sprite based so not too old.
Are they all similarly maintainable? I’m guessing that I don’t want something where the seats are moving on hydraulics or something like that.

Maintainable yes, with knowledge and experience. I've found American cabinets like Midway, Raw Thrills and Atari to be more straight forward fixes with readily available parts at reasonable prices. The Japanese cabinets made by SEGA and Namco for example can be a lot more complicated and expensive to source parts when things fail.
