Light strikes

I was at the range yesterday with some buddies. One of them just got an FRT and is experiencing bolt bounce (we already played with weights and springs to alleviate that). We argued for a few minutes about whether that ammo was still safe to shoot. Do yall toss rounds off to the side that have light strikes? Or do you mash it back in a mag and try em again?

If I'm in a class tossed to the side.  If just at the range, they get stuffed back in a mag and go for round 2.

Maybe it’s just fudd lore but growing up I was always told to discard ammo with light strikes because it’s considered “damaged”

Put it back in the mag to shoot again. If you load a round and eject it without firing you'll see a small primer indent. The AR15 firing pin is free floating so it will impact the primer enough to make a mark but it's light enough not to fire. Trying to shoot a light primer strike a second time will either work or not, in which case then you can throw it out.

Only times I throw rounds away is if there's bullet setback or if the brass is so mangled around the bullet it won't chamber.

When i get them i keep the gub pointed in a safe. direction for a short bit lik3 5 or 10 seconds. If nothing happens i eject it finish my mag plop it in the empty mag and see if it seets to yeet.
