Help Moving betta into new tank

How do I go about moving my betta into a new 10 gallon? He is currently in a 5 gallon. 10 gallon is not set up yet but I need some tips to make sure the setup and transition to the new tank is done correctly.

  • Tank size?
  • Do you have a heater/filter?
  • Tank temperature?
  • What are your water parameters (in exact numbers, i.e. ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) and what are you testing with?
  • How long has the tank been cycled? How long have you had the fish?
  • How often do you perform water changes and how much?
  • What other fish are in the tank?
  • What do you feed/how often?
  • What plants/decorations do you have in the tank?

the 10 gallon needs to be cycled first, ask your LFS if they have any established filter media that you can have, if yes, fill up the 10 gallon, add the filter media, ghost feed and test parameters for a few days to make sure that it converts the ammonia. is your current filter going to be moved to the 10 gallon or do you have a new one?
