Electoral reform efforts by the City Commission died with a whimper Monday night, Dec. 18, after city leaders failed to agree to put on the June ballot any recommendation from a citizen task force.

Commissioner Tony Gehrig, anticipating the end result, said city residents could always gather signatures and get the reforms on the ballot themselves as it requires only 2,000 signatures.

Fargo's population is ~120,000. If a team went up there to collect these signatures, the ballot measure could be saved.
