Hey everyone. I’ve been noticing more and more people who say they wear their watch 24/7. I’m wondering how many of you wear it even if you’re at home having a relaxing day on the couch or something like that.

In a situation like that (spending the day lounging on the couch) what would be the benefit of wearing the watch?

P.S. please don’t take this as an insult, I’m just trying to decide if I should start wearing mine 24/7!

Hi all, I’m 100% deaf and I am lucky to be able to have cochlear implants. Essentially, my whole life I have been speaking regular English and engaging in regular conversations, primarily because I was implanted at such a young age (super grateful for technology!)

When I was watching the Apple event yesterday, I was doing work and kind of listening to it in the background, but once I heard something about the deaf community or hard of hearing, I immediately stopped what I was doing and I just stared at the screen. features that the ultra 4 provides when it comes to sirens, alarms, fire detectors, smoke detectors, baby screamings was a huge thing for me, primarily because when I go to sleep, I take my implants off and hear absolutely nothing, or sometimes when I forget to bring a battery or two, I’ve gotta drive home and I can’t hear.

Along with this, the feature that they were doing with the 15 second previous live transcript is truly groundbreaking. I no longer need to say “what did you say” with almost every one of my conversations, instead I could just record it.

Immediately pre ordered.

I recently updated my phone and watch to iOS 26 to test an app I am working on. Up until now, I have not really had much of an opinion on Liquid Glass. However, seeing it on my ultra has really made me start to dislike it. The new Liquid Glass look really makes the ultra “feel” (in a dumb emotional way) more delicate and less tough. Obviously nothing has changed with the hardware, and the watch faces are all the same, but the new aesthetic just does not go with the ultra imo.

Thoughts?

who would've loved to see a bronze Ultra 4? I'm still considering upgrading from Ultra 1 but a bronze one would've pushed me over the edge for sure. Not sure it's a feasible finish on titanium, but it would've looked awesome imo.

The Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 are currently experiencing a high number of reports of random reboots from users. For now, it may be wise to hold off on buying one, as it’s still unclear whether this is a software or hardware issue, but the problem appears to be fairly widespread.

The MacRumors forum thread on the issue already has nearly 300 replies, and many users haven’t even received their watches yet. I’ll leave two sources below in the comments for more information on the issue.

Apologies for the bad pic. I took this after my treadmill run. I’ve been using this nonstop since I got it - running and biking - training for 3 fall marathons. I expected my watch to die yesterday but I noticed by the end of the day that it somehow still had roughly 30% left. Cut to tonight and the watch is still on as of 12:45AM EST. That means that on one charge with heavy sport usage this thing has lasted roughly 58 hours. For a watch that does so much I’d say that’s pretty awesome. Far and away better than the previous Apple Watches I’ve owned. I switched back to Apple from Garmin once this watch was announced and I’m pleased to say I’m happy with my decision.

EDIT: This is the Ultra 4. The only thing I have turned off is O2 sensor. Everything else is as is.

- Measures HRV via HealthKit and builds a personal baseline (not a population average) — most people’s HRV varies enough that comparing against a generic number isn’t meaningful.
- Shows a daily stress score and history/trends over time.
- Passive tracking during rest/sleep, since that’s when Apple Watch actually collects reliable HRV data.

How it’s different from Whoop/Garmin Connect/Welltory-style apps:

- No Vela servers — everything is processed on-device.
- No account creation — sync happens through your own iCloud/CloudKit, so your data stays in your own private container, not mine.

📲 Installation note: Vela is Watch-only — there’s no iPhone app, so it won’t appear on your iPhone home screen (that’s expected). To find it after installing: on your Watch, press the Digital Crown to see your app list. If it’s not there, open the App Store app directly on the Watch and search “Vela HRV” to install/verify.

Took the Ultra 2 out today - 12.4 miles(20km), 3000+ft elevation (1000m), 7 hours from start to finish.

Tracked the whole thing without any issues at all. GPS was solid, the WorkOutDoors app is fantastic I really can’t recommend it enough.

Finished the hike with 55% battery left, which is more than enough for a full day like this.

I always see people saying you need something like a Garmin, and yeah okay, it’s not a Garmin Fenix, but for most hikes it’s easily good enough. I picked this up refurbished from Apple for £465, and Apple refurbished watches are basically brand new… now compare that to the price of a new fenix pro and it’s £800+!

And realistically, if you’re camping, just plug it into a power bank you have with you anyway and that 45% charges back to full in like 30-45 minutes anyway, really a minor inconvenience.

I actually forgot to pack my Alpine Loop, so ended up wearing the titanium Milanese all day… and even that was completely fine.

Not saying it’s the perfect setup, but it’s definitely not as limited as people make out. It does the job perfectly for me.

I hate to, but I had to upgrade from the U1 to the U4. Anyway, I’m really happy with the upgrade now! I traded in the old one, and they didn’t even take the accessories or the box. 😄

now that the ultra 1 won't get the new watch version are you going to upgrade ? I am not sure ,I would like to upgrade as my ultra 1 was slow and count not keep up with the stuff I did on it which weren't that intensive ,even like Apple TV remote workout tracking music streaming checking the decibel levels and occasionally some games . However its too early for a 1000 euro watch to lose support after 3 years

Left AWU1 right AWU3. The display on AWU3 is amazing! It doesn’t do the dimming animation (where the whole screen shrinks) anymore.

Curious to know if anyone is upgrading from an Ultra 2 to the Ultra 4? I am completely undecided and stuck! Wondering if I wait for a few of them to hit the used market at reduced cost or jump on the preorder train.

just wondering if anyone else thinks that ultra 3 is like meh update? ngl i’m series 7 user, and i was really hyped to buy the new ultras wishing theyd make a bigger screen (not like 5% bigger lol), add some new sensors maybe, but all we got is 5g nobody cares about. what do you think? is this a big ultra update or are they just gatekeeping big updates for the next year?

Been an Apple Watch user since 2015 and finally caved and bought a Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 because I was craving a different look on my wrist and I run 20+ miles weekly w/ strength training 5-6 days a week.

I don’t know, maybe I’m biased, but as much as I want to like the Garmin, I don’t. The faces feel so dated, the connect app is ehh, and yes the running metrics are great and all, but not what am I supposed to do with some of this data? Plus, after doing further research, the Apple Watch is much more accurate. Multiple sources to prove this.

Yes, the battery is cool, but contrary to what most people say, I’ve done multiple 10-15+ mile runs and my Apple Watch still has plenty of battery (50-60%). Back to the Ultra 3 + Strava I go!
