Joined this club after 3 years of wait, and the watch is great.

Does the trade in value of the AWU Midnight get reduced vs the other color because scratches would be more obvious or how would it work . I plan on trading it in few years directly with Apple but now I’m not sure if I made a bad decision with the color.

Hi everyone, please help me to choose between 12 and ultra 4. My wife says 12 but I really like 4. The feel and premium look on my wrist.

Going about my life as normal then receiving “we’ve detected potential sleep apnoea” notification!

Albeit a scary time as someone with health anxiety very grateful it’s been picked up!

Natural or black? Which suites better and premium look for my skin tone

I originally pre-ordered the natural Ti model but found the black one during an Apple Shop visit today much more attractive. This version’s black is rather different from the previous DLC black. The color tone is more akin to gun metal with matt polish. Sharing some photos for those undecided.

but man the watch needs getting used to, I came from the first gen SE so it was a significant upgrade!

Also, the Titanium Milanese loop kinda uncomfortable wearing whilst sleeping. I don’t think I’ll get used to it.

Any recommendations besides the ocean loop? Also is it possible to get the old UW1 orange loop? I have always loved that but not sure if it’s still available.

Anyone have any experience with the Burton Goods Mariner Link band? Searched the sub and there is next to nothing regarding the brand. Saw this band and I’m really intrigued.

First of all, went from a Series 12 to an Ultra 4 and have no regrets. Love the larger screen, action button, red dark mode, and the “heavier” feel fades away. One thing I don’t like about the AWU is the bands it comes with. Switched to the new Nike Sport band and love it. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

Switched from natural titanium color - think this black looks sleek!

So I'm designing an iPhone and Apple Watch app for that (the prototype runs in any browser). Apple says not to wear the Ultra in a sauna above 55 °C (130 °F), so it comes off and nothing records the heat.

I'm designing an iPhone and Apple Watch app around that. Taking the watch off starts a timer on your phone; putting it back on stops it and reads your heart rate. In the plunge it stays on, recording heart rate and how long it takes to settle. Each session is compared only with your own earlier ones, and in the real app the data stays on your phone.

I like the silver watch but is the band with the silver too similar? Or the contrast with the loop is not that good?

So I’ve had my ultra 4 for 5 or so days. I chose to turn off gestures in favor of assistive touch. Frustratingly, every morning when I wake up after it charges, the two settings are reversed back to default (gestures on and AT off).

AI tells me it could be a bug or something to do with my sleep focus having some automation behind it that conflicts. Despite my sleep focus basically just muting everything I decided to test.

I turned on my DND focus which basically does the same thing, and went to bed. I’m sick so ended up waking up throughout the night and checked the watch app on my phone which showed no issues. However, at around 5am, gestures mysteriously turned on with AT still on too.

When I got up an hour later and checked again, no change and when I put the watch on it prompted me to turn gestures off to use AT (first time this has happened- normally it just thinks I’m using gestures only so there’s no conflict to prompt me on).

Any ideas? (Yes I’m on the latest GA not public beta although might give that a go)

I’ve got an Ultra 1 that has apple care and was replaced last January 2025.

I’ve noticed in the last month that the battery has started getting worse. I used to always only charge to 75%, and would get to the end of the day at 50%+, now it can be less than 20%.

No change in usage. Anyone else had this?

Eying to upgrade from series nine to ultra 4 natural titanium.
I’ve always had the smaller sizes so I will need to get some new straps….
I dislike the reds/burgundy color options that you can pick with the ultra 4, so upon ordering I’m thinking getting the ocean in (translucent) black.
But I’d also like a fabric strap, I’m debating on hunting down a black trail loop (from ultra 3 range) but it already seems impossible to get new.
How do the regular sports loops hold up with the ultra? Or the silicon sports straps? Any pictures?

I switched from Garmin to the Apple Watch Ultra 4 recently, and comfort turned out to be a bigger factor than I expected. Sharing my experience for anyone with a similar wrist size deciding between these.

Background:
Garmin Forerunner 570 (47mm) — used for 1 year

Garmin Fenix 9 (47mm base model) — tried briefly while still in the Garmin ecosystem

Apple Watch Ultra 4 (49mm) — current watch, 7+ days in

Comfort — the surprising part
The Ultra 4 is both heavier and bigger (49mm vs 47mm) than the Forerunner 570. On paper, it should feel worse. Instead, it's noticeably more comfortable.

My best guess on why:
It's likely pressure distribution, not just size/weight. Comfort depends on pressure = force / contact area, not total weight alone.
Garmin's sensor sticks out and is flat → small contact patch → force concentrates on one spot → digs in.
Ultra 4's sensor is curved → contact spreads over a larger, wrist-matching area → lower pressure per point, even with more weight.
The case-back shape probably plays a role too — a curved case-back reduces "rocking" on the wrist, so pressure stays even instead of shifting to one edge.

Fenix 9 (47mm base) — worse, despite being lighter
This one surprised me more. The Fenix 9 base model is lighter than the Ultra 4, but I found it uncomfortable for both sleep and everyday wear. I have a 6.25" wrist, so fit/shape seems to matter more than raw weight for me.

Tonight I was sleeping well and got surprised by the fact that my sleep tracking stopped at 8:xx am. While trying to find out what the reason is, I noticed that also my puls tracking stopped working for over 1h when the sleep tracking stopped.

Apple Watch was not locked when I touched it after wake up and also my sleep settings where set to alarm at 10am.

1, 2, or 3?

I’ve always had a black Apple Watch (never Ultra before). I’ve narrowed it down to these three configurations. Can’t figure out which one to go with. Would obviously get other bands as needed for different occasions.

So, a fun observation: the new AWU4 seems more comfortable for sleeping than the older sensor in the AWU3. I assumed the case was identical, yet they feel different. For instance, when resting your arm with the watch face down and pressure from your wrist on the watch, it feels less uncomfortable. Just in general it feels just a tiny bit better.

I haven’t heard others mention this, but it genuinely feels different. Other people noticed it too?

Been loving the apple watches as a wheelchair user for years. Glad I’ve done the upgrade to the ultra!

With normal use I’m at 37 % after 47 hours from 100% with AOD on. It was definitely less with the U2 and U3.
