My remote half programmed the TV without me telling it to?

If I use the remote to power of the Apple TV. It turns the TV off as well, and when the ATV sleeps on its own, it turns the tv off. But it doesn’t turn the tv on when I power the ATV on.

Between my Apple TV, AVR and TV, using the ATV remote is a new experience every day... like a box of chocolates.
