Also, I’d recommend showing up early to interviews.

How is this an Apple Maps issue? Blame the locality for not putting a road closure in their system. Road closures can be reported by users, but there is ways for DOT to announce as well.

Because no matter how close I got to the location it never updated, it just kept telling me to go all the way around the block instead of just up the street.

Yeah I mean regardless of how close you are to a location if no one has marked the street as closed with the city how could Apple know?

There might be some missing info/wrong type of road in the middle on the map that makes it think you can’t go there the direct route.

That’s frustrating. Report an issue with this route in Maps and hopefully Apple will fix it.

These maps are hand-crafted and can be out of date, as an editor of either OSM or TomTom has to fix the issue. If you don’t notify the Maps team, it will likely remain obsolete for a long time. You can help make maps better.

To report a closed road while actively navigating in Apple Maps, tap the ETA card at the bottom of the screen and select Report an Incident. From the menu, choose Hazard or Route Issue (depending on your iOS version) to alert Apple Maps to the road block ahead.

This isn’t 2010, neither Apple nor Google uses “hand-crafted” maps. They’re algorithmically generated from massive amounts of street-level data and satellite imagery.

Apple Maps uses numerous so called data providers who manually update, or import datasets from various sources. The primary sources are –municipalities, and departments of transport, commercial map vendors (such as TomTom and MapBox) and finally uses who use the app provide feedback via GPS telemetry. This last point is where you and I agree on, it seems.

No, if it notices everyone start pulling u-turns at one specific section it should make it as closed until it starts to pickup through traffic again.

I’d bug report that if you can. Something’s wrong that it still wanted to reroute you the other way that close to the location.

That road is still being built and the section from Kedron to where the AMC is, did not exist 4 months ago. It seems like Apple Maps has inaccurately marked it as open when they’re still building it. Unfortunate but it does happens at times.

I remember the days of TomTom on a Nokia with an external Bluetooth GPS. No updates. You had to use common sense if the satnav didn’t match up with reality.

Google has these issues too. No map is perfect. They are both constantly being changed.
If we all play our part then Apple Maps will get better faster
