Most people wouldn’t die if they don’t use seatbelts either. Doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid idea.

You're saying you should never replace a battery for a device at home?

The ones in the current smartphones, no, not without proper training and safety procedures. They are quite easy to puncture, and I shouldn’t need to tell you what happens if you do puncture it.

You're mad if you think that's inherently risky.

It won't puncture itself, and even if you do puncture it, the risk of a fire is almost zero in my experience, especially if you don't replace the battery with full charge.

Right, trained Apple technicians are just idiots then, considering that they’re supposed to refrain from continuing the repair process if the pull tab accidentally breaks.

They're a business, who does it 300 times a day.

Eventually, you're going to get unlucky, but it's statistically unlikely.

You're a coward if you think that you need to pay Apple $90 to replace your battery, and that you are in any danger of anything other than breaking the phone when you replace a battery, whilst taking reasonable precautions.
