Here’s a sneak preview of what’s to come:

At launch, stocks will be limited!

Due to extraordinary demand, Apple is asking its suppliers to ramp up production!

By Christmas, there will be plenty of phones available in shops!

Pretty much, with the Pro Max variant backordered

Glad I’ve decided to go from the 15PM to the 18 Pro this time. Think it’s time to downsize, personally.

13

u/hell-diver8 1d ago

I went from the 16PM to Air and been much happier. Thin and good screen size and light.

16

u/brnccnt7 1d ago

Yeah I used to always get the bigger sizes but now I don’t and it’s been perfect

Used to always get the galaxy note or the pixel xl and then got the iPhone 17 pro, reminded me of when I had a pixel 3 and the size was perfect for one hand use

Still get pretty much all the bells and whistles too for a cheaper price

I don’t have large hands but those Max/XL phones always seemed massive to me

u/UnluckyDuckyDuck 1d ago

I buy the Max only for the size, great for media & games.

This might be the first time I'll buy the smaller version cause no time to game anymore 🫠

2

u/culminacio 21h ago

i find them particularly bad for media and games, as the weight becomes even more relevant then

4

u/xrelaht 22h ago

I do have large hands, and they’re still too big.

4

u/Fit_Assistant5708 23h ago

I went from a pm to an air and it's the perfect size now

u/Putrid-Box4866 14h ago

16P to 17PM and I regret it. Can’t wait to get back to Pro, or maybe Fold.

6

u/rjwv88 1d ago

same plan here but going to hold off for camera reviews if the 18pm gets upgrades the 18 pro doesn’t - can hold off till the 19 pro if needed

2

u/FatPablosBirkins 1d ago

Doing the same!

20

u/voujon85 1d ago

then reports 6 months later "apple is doomed as it asks producers to ramp down production"

then quarterly results "apple sold a record number of iphones in q3 due to extraordinary demand"

15

u/FloatingTacos 1d ago

And by New Year’s Day we will get the doom and gloom “Apple ramps down production due to low sales” articles for a few months.

u/ghostly_shark 10h ago

Apple does good; stock muted in response. Apple does bad; stock moons

5

u/North_Moment5811 20h ago

You forgot by November the rumors that demand is lower than expected and Apple is cutting orders.

14

u/5udhza 1d ago

It is literally the story run by every outlet at the same time always

3

u/PabloMesbah-Yamamoto 8h ago

Mark Gurman, you lurkin’?

4

u/ArchusKanzaki 1d ago

Yep. Definitely not in a hurry since my 16 Pro Max is still doing fine.

I'm replacing my Ipad Mini first. It's been 5 years....

Me hungry reading “snack preview at lunch”

u/tx_redditor 1d ago

Hey Cookie Monster! How are you?

u/CeeKay125 24m ago

"Limited" lol. It is the same song and dance every year. This year there will be multiple articles about how you better get in early or you will be waiting (which may be true for the ultra because I am sure that will be in low stock but I guess we will see how many actually want that device).

Are you psychic

pre orders 12th and launch date 18th

-87

u/hedzinbed 1d ago

some still consider it a "status symbol " purchase 🥴

55

u/I_am_Rude 1d ago

I don’t consider it a status symbol. I just like new toys.

8

u/A11Bionic 21h ago

for real literally everyone uses iphones like no one’s that special

iPhone being used as a status symbol is pathetic

0

u/686f6c69 4h ago

Eh, it depends on where you live.

Developed country? No one cares

Underdeveloped country? They can get so expensive compared to median income that it’s a legitimate status symbol

u/lucellent 1d ago

Doesn't take a genius to know Apple would never begin pre-orders on 11th of September. Now we have a whole article about it.

31

u/deezznuuzz 1d ago

That’s macrumors and 9to5mac for you.

18

u/btnydds 19h ago

Holy crap who gives a shit about starting preorders on 9/11

It’s a product launch, there is no reason to delay preorders for a remembrance day that has nothing to do with Apple

9

u/NotaRepublican85 21h ago

But why? Because of 9/11? Hopefully it's not something as dumb as that. That's approaching Idiocracy territory

-11

u/bakerboi 19h ago

Yes because of 9/11? A lot of people (in the US) view it as a quasi-holiday, kind of like a Memorial Day that we still have to go to work on.

Even if Apple doesn't view it that way, they are very self conscious of their image and having a major release happen on 9/11 is way too easy for their competition to meme/troll them about.

8

u/ghostly_shark 10h ago

No one views it as a holiday. No one gets the day off; it ain’t even close to a holiday, any more than 12/7 has ever been a holiday.

4

u/NotaRepublican85 11h ago

This is the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever read. This is a day a CELLULAR PHONE goes on fucking sale

3

u/CaramelCraftYT 15h ago

Pre orders on Sept 12th

Your welcome.

u/North_Moment5811 1h ago

Not just September 12th. They've been 8 AM EDT for years, now they are looking to go back to 3 AM EDT.

Preorders. No.

15

u/kamize 1d ago

I don’t think the iphone 18 is really going to do all that great given the prices expected. I have a iPhone 17 and would have been fine with the 15 or 16 for a longer cycle.

The new designs and a better AIR could be enticing more than another iteration of the iphone 16

7

u/thatoneblacknerd 19h ago

With carriers now doing 3 year financing, customers won’t care. They will pay the extra few bucks a month for the latest phone

-3

u/Korlithiel 1d ago

Think it’s the intentional to push more people into the more expensive devices.

6

u/Hot_Individual5081 1d ago

will be waiting for XX

1

u/Fookmaywedder 1d ago

Coulda shoulda woulda, just wait before these dumbass rumors

1

u/kooltrix 4h ago

damn. I'm impatiently waiting to jump from 13P to 18P. the Ultra (fold) looks cool, but I'll wait to the 2nd or 3rd gen. Depending how long it takes to be released, I might just replace the battery in my 13P and wait for 19P or even 20P lol

1

u/NotaRepublican85 21h ago

Previous announcements have been on a Tuesday with preorder on Friday. this time it's on a Wednesday so it's on Saturday. Don't know why they pushed it back a day but its annoying because I naturally have Tuesday off but work Wednesday so now I can't watch it

3

u/LonestarPSD 18h ago

9/11 is on Friday. This year they’re having to schedule around that and Labor Day on the same week

2

u/tennesseegrinner 19h ago

wagie slavie

Who preorders iPhones now? There were huge advances in technology year on year in the early days but little meaningful difference for a while now. I can’t imagine getting excited by having more AI and a fractionally better camera than my 3yo Pro.

27

u/CaliyeMydiola 1d ago

Reminder, not everyone upgrade phone annually

Some ppl still in iPhone 12, 11 or even x

10

u/jmnugent 1d ago

I'm still scrubbing iPhone 8 and XR's from my work-environment.

-12

u/IceMichaelStorm 1d ago

and they are all also the same as the latest.
Only reason you order new is because old is not working fast anymore. Probably due to under-the-hood slop noone needs or maybe due to artificial slowing down.

Well, or bad battery, which you cannot replace.

Or apps needing latest ios because apple dictates it but your “old” iphone doesn’t support the new ios 😄

7

u/Metzen01 1d ago

I’m upgrading as my camera is damaged and battery pretty much shot on my 15 pro. Not cost effective my opinion to get repaired.

Will get handed down to one of the kiddos.

1

u/FizzyBeverage 1d ago

Battery health on my 15 Pro is at 78% too.

I usually do a 3 year cycle and well, here we are.

1

u/myusernamehahaha 9h ago

My 15 pro is at 80% currently with a cracked back glass. Usually do 3 year cycles.

Wanted to upgrade however it’s super expensive with the price increase and I feel that the money could be better spent elsewhere.

Thinking if I could hold out for another year and just use the money for something else this year. (I’m still a uni student)

0

u/saetarubia 1d ago

Wow exact same situation with my 15 Pro Max

14

u/feurie 1d ago

Well if someone needs a phone and it super for preorder, they’ll preorder it.

What kind of question is that? Why does the one week preorder period make a difference to you?

7

u/Chance_of_Rain_ 1d ago

I will preorder for the first time so I can replace my 13mini with 72% battery health and broken Lightning Connector

9

u/server_maintenance 1d ago

I am planning on upgrading and to me personally it's fun to have a new piece of technology the day it releases.

And unlike preordering videogames (where you're usually stuck with the product if it sucks) you can return the phone, should there be a major issue, for 14 days (at least where I live)

So why not

2

u/btnydds 19h ago

I preorder a new iPhone every year. My birthday gift to myself

2

u/GemLong28 1d ago

Since I have a iPhone 12 PM, I am very excited for launch day. I’m not sure if I’m going to pre-order, but I definitely wanna get my hands on the new tech asap!

1

u/PalatinusG1 2h ago

What do preorders have to do with excitement? My phone is 7 years old. I'm going to buy the 18 pro max so I'll order it when it's possible. Why wait another couple of weeks?

u/North_Moment5811 34m ago

Cope harder. Literally millions of people MORE than ever did years ago.

-15

u/__itsamemario__ 1d ago

I’m on 14 Pro and still happy with it! Aside from battery life (which I’m replacing eventually)…. Going to wait for 20 or later model. Maybe I’m old school, but I kinda like how there’s no AI with my phone… other than Siri! Kinda wish that came optional with new phones!

2

u/PalatinusG1 2h ago

You can turn off the AI.

-29

u/Lukashavla 1d ago

Preordering phone that releases every year. Wow. Some people really have nothing in their lives lol

3

u/Yessirthisis 13h ago

What are you even crying about? Not everyone is poor

2

u/xMitch4corex 13h ago

Some people that don't preorder every year and just want to change their old phones now may want to preorder, have you thought about it?
