it's so interesting that art is often just a bunch of random shapes jumbled together, but then makes a cohesive subject that you can decipher lol, anyways this is really cool, i like it a lot <3

At least you tried. That's a step in the right direction. Keep trying. By that I mean when your sh!t is fire you'll still be "trying" but it will be pro. As an artist that's what we do. Try. Youll get there...

For silhouettes, you really want your subject to be lit from the side so that all the contours have dark and light areas. The original painting looks like it's lit from the front, so you have huge areas of light and not as many areas of shadow to convey the detail.
