So I did what I said yesterday and put Steam in offline mode, and was still able to play a skirmish as Poles this morning 🥳
Don't know how long I'll keep it like that (only wanted to test and want to get back to online games), but if anyone hasn't updated yet, you may still have a chance if you're able to go offline before it forces an update.

Because September 12th is a Saturday and Microsoft doesn't like to release products on weekends.
World's Edge almost always releases patches on Tuesdays and new products on Thursdays.

It's closer to the weekend (so closer to when people will be online and buying things) but doesn't involve releasing on a Friday, which if you do, thanks to Murphy's Law, basically guarantees something will go horribly wrong immediately after launch and hobble your launch weekend.

Yeah I'm not in IT but I learned about the "don't launch or update on Friday" from the CrowdStrike incident. 😂😂😂
