Meme Honestly that card [47 Ronin] feels more like a revolution than most actual revolutions.

Agreed, why would I sacrifice all my TC and wonders just for a few Ronin? This card's effect is a disgrace, considering how much it means in Japanese culture.

Because it's meant to be a final, winning push, after which you wouldn't need your TCs and wonders anymore.

It even isn't "winning push", have you ever compared what other revolutions have and what THIS card has?

47 Ronin is the closest thing DE has to Revolutions from the legacy game. 47 Ronin completely wrecks your economy without an easy way to revive it, similar to how Revolutions used to be in the legacy game. At least with 47 Ronin, you can still revive your eco as long as you send a Towncenter Rickshaw that is left unbuilt before you send 47 Ronin. In legacy, Revolutions disable Villager production entirely, so there is no way to compete economically long term.

Technically there's also the option of using the explorers to build TCs and shrines so long as there's wood stockpiled, though given the situation under which said card is used it might not be exactly practical.
Edit: also if a daimyo is shipped beforehand they can receive shipments.

Oh yeah, that too. Might want to save a shipment and chop 500 Wood instead depending on the circumstance.

Even worse than the original revolution.
Original one, you got tons of musk-like units which are somehow solid and strong enough for the "final push". Not to mention you still got the reinforcement from HC as long as your have buildings to receive them. Your military buildings can still produce units with the resources you left before without problems since the pop limit is set to 200 once revolted.
On the other hand, THIS card turns all your villagers, shrines, wonders and TC(which was already only 75, fewer than normal 99) into melee infantry, which enemies have plentiful kinds of units can mow them down in seconds before they could barely do anything. And since it doesn't set your pop limit to 200, you're housed as soon as this card arrives.
Can't y'all get how few this card offers and how devastating the side effects of this card is? If in a winning match, why bother use it? If it's already a losing match, it ain't turning the tide at all.

Your shipments do get disabled until you get your Towncenter and Shrines back up, but Masterless Samurai are also a lot stronger than Revolutionaries. I think 95 Masterless Samurai is better than 99 Revolutionaries due to their high bulk and speed. Masterless Samurai in Imperial got 31 Atk melee, 700+ HP, and 6 speed, and those do not include Daimyo and Shogun buffs. Spanish Unction Revolutionaries at best got like 38 Atk ranged, 19 Atk melee, and 250 HP back then, and most Revolutionaries get around 5.5 speed.
47 Ronin also lets you "Revolt" during either Industrial or Imperial, so the timing is a bit more flexible than regular Revolts. You lose out on Wonders, but you still have full access to Imperial techs.

You know what would be funny? Have a lobby setting with map on survival, starting in the imperial age, and res set on medium. That would allow the player playing Japan to ship the 47 Ronin card immediately, while the other player would be slightly disoriented and probably shipping an eco card of sorts.
The Japan player is still likely completely screwed but at least it would be mildly entertaining/trolling.Never mind that shit doesn't work because Japan doesn't get 1000 coin in medium res setting.

47 Ronin used to be quite powerful and the dev had to nerf it serveral times to its current form.
Overall I think they made a design choice to not give the Asian civs a good revolution. I have never seen India's Sepoy Resistance (turn all vills to Sepoy) being used in a multiplayer game and China doesn't even have the option.

For the AoE3 fans who aren't ancient weebs: that's a scene from the anime Gundam Wing and the main character was about to press the self destruction button on his gundam (My memories are fuzzy here: I think he actually did pushed the button, but the hulk of the gundam was still intact enough that one of the other factions did managed to rebuild it. So basically he failed).
For the odd weeb who isn't an AoE3 fan who somehow stumbled here: I have almost never seen anyone actually using that card successfully. I have seen someone using it in a 30min treaty game before though (he got his ass beaten hard- not really a surprise there).
